It goes for $7 more a barrel because it has already had many impurities removed in the process that makes tar mixed with sand into crude oil. Therefore, it is a far superior crude to refine, and costs less to refine than say, Texas light sweet crude.
I beg to differ; the US is ignoring us. Recent tariffs on steel, lumber and subsidising farmers will severely damage vital parts of our economy. Not to mention GW taking 3 days to express his condolences after 4 of our soldiers in Afganistan were accidentally killed by an F-16. They don't even kiss us anymore before ramming it up our poop chute.
The price today to produce a barrel of Syncrude Sweet blend synthetic crude is about $7 a barrel, and sells for about $32USD a barrel. Right out of the ground from northern Alberta.
And there is a pipeline that carries it 500 KM to be refined and another pipeline to carry it to the US market. How much shipping does it take to get that barrel of Saudi oil to the US market?
Oil shipped from northern Alberta currently makes about 20% of all oil produced in Canada, therefore it makes about ~2% of the US market. And growing every year.
So whay again does the US kiss Saudi tush, and ignores it friends to the north?
I noticed some postings above where some people had checked their default settings and found them "unchecked" by default. One of those people had a.co.uk address.
I wonder if they also responded truthfully to their country of origin, and MS simply didn't opt them in for this reason...
1) Look busy if you want to. Just get your work done on time. Doesn't matter to me.
2) Control freak manglers like me have other reasons to ban such things other than "Lets screw the peons because we are evil and we can [insert evil laugh here]". Security, and legal come to mind.
Search KaAzA or Limewire for "resume.doc" or "budget.xls" or "SuicideNote.doc" and see what you get. Most users are dumb and don't know how configure such things. Most VP's are so stunned they can't find their serial port with a map and 3 Sherpa guides, so I don't want them sharing the company's Next-Big-Thing(TM)secrets to the world. So I treat them as such and say a blanket *NO* p2p. Period. They want music, bring CD's or turn on a radio.
As for the legal issues...let's not get into that here. Been done to death.
I have a similar problem with Outlook Express in W2k Server. There is no option to get rid of it in Control Panel -> Add/Remove -> Windows Setup. I've deleted the icon, but ever since I got SP2 and the hotfixes, the icon keeps re-appearing in Start -> Programs every time I log on/off. What kind of a numpty would activate Outlook Express on a PDC anyway?
And anyone have any idea why Activesync contacts Microsoft.com every time I synch my PDA?
You call Windoze and OS/2 "multiple platforms"
Those are two. I also have it running on Unix, AIX and OS/400. Kinda nice since we're an AS/400 shop.
I am forced to use it by my employer
{a hush falls over the crowd} You mean your employer actually tells you what you can do at work, while they are paying you! How brutal it must be for you!
(guess who) and no, I don't like it.
I can guess, and I probabally used to work for them the past 10 years, which is where I got all my Notes training.
No technical person I have ever talked to likes it.
Strange. Any technical person I've ever talked to never turns their back on a good solution, and technical people who understand Notes love it. Especially if they have been "rescued" from Exchange Hell. Are you saying I'm non-technical?
Notes was not meant for email. Read the History of Notes.
Yes, it can be bloated and slow, but what isn't nowadays, taking into consideration that people need things like calandaring, meeting scheduling and collaborative tools? What else can run on multiple platforms? Outlook?
If you get to know it, understand it and use it, you never know, you might like it.

Yes Alex, I'd like to buy a vowel...
Replace "China" with "Canada" or "England" and most of this still holds up.
*Oooooohhh shiny!*
I had that wonderful experience with Compuserve way back when. My ID didn't work, but the billing was still on my credit card.
I'm still in therapy for my experiences trying to sort that mess out. :-)

Laphrohaig. It's Islay single malt Scotch. One of my favorites.

Pretty fucking cold I'd say.
Is it snowing in Wisconsin...right now? I look out my window, I see big flakes coming down...

Are you management? Yes, MIS.
