FRAND is just mandatory licensing at a reasonable price. Seems right.
Most "user content" with music is not fair use, though. Lyrics on screen, or dancing to the music? Not fair use. Covers? Not fair use. There's very little you can do with music that's fair use. But that shouldn't matter - the site should give the artist a cut of the ad revenue, and that's that.
We need a legal fix here more than a technical fix: FRAND licensing for all streamed music. There's already the equivalent for live performances: pay your ASCAP fees and you can play whatever to whomever. But the point is there should be no "take downs", the copyright owner should simply get a cut of any money made from any given stream. YouTube already has this technology, of course, but sometimes you still see take-downs as well.
Besides which, the first time a drone drops out of the sky, there's real trouble. Out in the wider world, if a drone malfunctions and falls, there's only a small chance it will actually hit someone. Inside a stadium, the odds go way up.
God as my witness, I thought these turkey drones could fly!
I was plenty outraged at foreign nations trying to influence the election - the Democrats have never taken steps to block foreign campaign donations, and the Clinton Foundation laundered millions in foreign donations to directly effect those in power - quid pro quo from the State department. But it all ended up OK, and Hillary Clinton will never be president.
BTW, both the DNC and RNC were hacked in about the same way - there just wasn't anything embarrassing about Trump that we didn't already know. Heck, 90% of the embarrassing things about Trump was stuff he said as a candidate!
Apple has a proven track record of ignoring their customers until it's too late. That may be why they've had several breakthrough producs over the years, but it also has its ugly side.
I'm not sure that's the #1 reason (I think the #1 reason was immigration), but it's probably #2. Funny how it got no press.
About 1/3rd of US states have only one insurance company left in the "exchange", and in those states rates went up about 50%, to about double where they were before Obamacare. They may not be the most populous states, but it's a heck of a motivation.
The difference is: the Bible has a New Testament. It's primary message? Scripture can be hard to interpret, so if you think it's telling you to hurt someone, that's how you know you're reading it wrong. That Jesus guy just wouldn't shut up about this: turn the other cheek, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, etc., etc.
The Koran desperately needs its own New Testament, just as Islam desperately needs it's own Reformation. That can only happen from within, of course, but we should recognize it for what it is.
Just in 2016 there were 2455 Islamic attacks in 60 countries, in which 21152 people were killed and 26499 injured. If that number surprises you, it's because the western press doesn't care to report attacks without western victims. Your false equivalence is obvious and foolish.
Look, just remove the ' key from your keyboard, for at least a year. That will make the world, ever so slightly, a better place.
For passenger cars and light trucks, the brakes have far more power than the engine if they're in good condition. Heavy trucks are a different story, though, as they have some very tall gears, and stopping on a slope can be challenging to begin with when loaded.
Sure, but if you strive to make the world idiot-proof it sucks for everyone.
There's a difference between printing "do not eat" on the moisture-absorbent insert in foods, and making heavy equipment operate safely.
Also, anti-terrorist measures that only stop dumb terrorists are useful.. If we're going to make rational tradeoffs, we shoudl consider that. (Of course, we'll never make rational trade-offs, we'll get increased inconvenience from the TSA because terrorists haven't gone after US airplanes for 10 years now).
This is the first generation of VR that actually looks good. Sadly, there's almost no content. Worse, most of the content makes makes most people nauseous. But it is immersive in a way that a screen, keyboard, and mouse just aren't - if it weren't for persistent VR sickness, I think it would be a new and attractive style of gaming, different in kind from what we're used to.
folks who never learned critical thinking (which, despite what the right ring will tell you, is a skill that can be taught. That's what all those English Classes are for).
Sadly, "critical thinking" has been replaced in the curriculum with "critical of white cis-hetero men" thinking.
The sort of person who's on the ball enough to do good isn't going to fall for Fake News
Wow, so only smart people can do good? That's a breathtaking level of intellectual snobbery.
. Lefty Fake News gets debunked too fast to spread like good Fake News needs to...
Has "hands up, don't shoot" ever been well-debunked? Certainly not before several riots happened. Or are you using "Fake News" to mean "any news that doesn't fit the progressive narrative", in which case, sure the lack of left wing fake news is trivially true.
You'd think the foliage would make good cover, but nope, no stealth mechanics whatsoever.
Ah, that's wasn't true even in FarCry, though it wasn't obvious how to hide. Certain kinds of bushes were 100% concealment -- enemies cloud actually bump into you and start pushing you without seeing you -- all the others were 0% concealment. Once you discivered the 2 kinds of bushes you could actually hide in, it was a much more fun game.
The original FarCry was a lot of fun, with a lot of room for beating levels in unusual ways. Crysis was more constrained. The other games (all made by Ubisoft?) were just bland shooters, IMO.
2001. 2010. The movie for 2010 is decent, though I'm, not 100% sure it will explain the reference. The books are good though.

"Retweet if Hitler did nothing wrong!", obviously.
Romance umpires? You're both making less sense than usual and far more entertainer than usual, so ... carry on, I guess.

My premiums went down the year after ACA became law and the increases since have all been smaller than the average increases before.
But hey.. don't let that stop you from blaming the ACA for your shitty insurance company raping you instead of shopping for a different insurer.
Cool story bro.
You obviously don't live in a state with only one insurer on the "exchange". Funny how prices are higher with an effective monopoly, huh?

Finally, a car analogy! Now it all makes sense. Never change, Slashdot, never change.

Like I said to MoJo: it's been time enough - you should really be past Denial and in Anger by now.
And what are those policies, pray tell?
Immigration, mostly.
The fact that he is a total asshole and a bully with the temper of a 5 year old doesn't appear to matter in this political climate.
The fact that he was a bad candidate doesn't change the fact that he was the better candidate.
Trump was just the better candidate with the more appealing policies. It's been time enough - you should really be past Denial and in Anger by now.
I am unaware of any drone that can lift 500kg.. that is a lot of explosive. Maybe 500g.....
We use them all the time: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
You probably meant "any cheap drone", which is true enough.
Hillary Clinton will never be president. That is all.

If only I had mod points.
The Russian hacks only did the press's job for them.

You beat me to it. That old cliche should really be updated to "if it walks like a duck, and rapes like a duck, ..."
