Money was being thrown at it very quickly and tanks and boats rolled off production very swiftly. If our entire communications/power infrastructure collapsed in one day don't you think most manufacturing plants capable of retooling would switch over to manufacturing the components required to replace it. The existing stocks would be used to facilitate manufacturing more. In the long run it would probably be good for our total power and economic infrastructure as useless trends would die away.

A proper IQ test probably would have shown your low ranking soldier to be of above average IQ in cognitive and reasoning abilities. While the over educated fool was most likely just an average person with a lot of schooling. Just because someone has take 16 years of school and has 2 doctorates does not mean that person is above average. It simply means that they were capable enough to complete the work. While a certain amount of education can be shown to increase cognitive and reasoning IQ it can have a negative impact on one's creative IQ or their ability to think outside the box.

I think you're drawing a false association here. While type 2 is generally manageable with increased exercise and a change in diet. The diets best suited for managing this illness are not a regular healthy diet one would expect for an average person but rather a modified diet with strictly controlled carb intake. A diet that is almost impossible to stick to without spending a great deal of money. As with a lot of common illnesses it's easy to suggest changed behaviors but nobody seems to be interested in facilitating the implementation of the changes.

As the wikipedia article points out type two is a tendency of cells to reject insulin. It is also an inherited genetic trait. While there are steps that can be taken to counteract it and help prevent onset many people are unable to counteract the negative effects of the disease by exercise and diet alone. I've known quite a few people who exercise regularly and eat well but still suffer from uncontrollable glucose levels.

You're right that many people are just lazy and do not exercise or eat right. However, assuming this is some kind of majority or that all or even a majority of type 2 sufferers are simply lazy is medically incorrect. While it is often referred to as non insulin dependent or adult onset diabetes this should not be assumed to mean that the illness is caused by patient inaction. Many times in my experience the visible onset is due to the decreased ability of the body to generate cells as a person ages genetic tendencies become more prevalent and new cell production no longer compensates for reduced insulin efficiencies.

Not all diabetes results from fat or unfit people. Pancreatic issues, kidney issues, and liver issues can all lead to erratic blood sugar levels. That's laughable as an example SMB shipped with almost every NES and was sold on shelves there are tons of copies of that game and what console am I going to play said game on assuming I did purchase it? The consoles are no longer manufactured so supply has a finite limit.

Also you say people are too cheap if these people are the majority the people are not cheap the prices are just set too high the product is overvalued. And before you go on about how people are still buying them. The price point isn't so high as to be unavailable. It is however far too high to be optimal for the market. A non optimal price point in combination with a readily available alternative is a formula for failure. Software is a near infinite resource. I say near infinite because in this case the minimal price of stamping and man hours do set a minimum profit margin to break even. However this is significantly below the current price point.
