Not quite. There have been projects adding x86 support to Android since 2009. There have even been devices that used x86 chips, such as the Cisco Cius. This move is more along the lines of Google supporting as many chips as possible to open up the opportunities for manufacturers and developers. So far, the focus has been on ARM chips since they are low power and well suited for mobile phones.
If anything, Windows 8 is on ARM as a direct response to Android and iOS.
Security updates and support. I'm not the biggest fan of GNOME 3 or Unity but what Mint is doing isn't bad. Ubuntu had driven me away to OpenSUSE powered by KDE, but I found that I didn't like a lot of the KDE apps. Mint has made GNOME 3 more usable for me, and has really simplified some of the configuration and setup that was a pain in OpenSUSE. I run it on a MacBook Pro for compiling / cross-compiling programs and unlike OpenSUSE, everything just worked right out of the box. So far I am very pleased with it.
Yes, you can download the MP3s from Google Music. Unfortunately, they limit you to two downloads for each song, but on the plus side they are 320kbps encodes. I think something similar is true for Amazon, but I have never used that service.
It is awesome and much better than Java! Think of the great note taking and music apps you can write! Don't worry, Microsoft will never block its development because they said so. You can always trust a large company when they say something in a non-binding manner.
From my experience, the more Conservative the family, the higher chance they will have an autistic kid. All of the people with autism that I have known came from very religious and conservative families. Of course, that is from my limited perspective in a conservative area of the country.
Let me know when my PC games are going to come even close to using 4GB of ram. I'm always disappointed in the lack of memory use on my gaming rig. Most modern games rarely hit 1GB of mem usage from what I have seen. Rage didn't even bother caching it's many large textures in memory.
Imagine if there was some way to reflect upon the newer changes to support new devices while still maintaining support for older ones. I think I would call it refraction. That sounds like a good name.
Trying to map the Android software world over to Apple's is amazingly disingenuous, to the point of being a complete troll (and anyone in this thread here to point that out is pretty trollish by relation.)
THIS. The differences between the latest android versions have been fairly small. 4.0 will be kind of a big deal, but if you are running anything above 2.0, you should be good. I find these comparisons pretty annoying because updating your old iphone to 4/5/whatever rarely adds anything new. Apple allows people to upgrade to save face, while still requiring hardware upgrades to get many of the new features. It is a bit similar with Android. Typically, new versions of the OS support new features found on new phones. Getting a update for 2.3 isn't going to add a front facing camera or NFC support to your old phone.
Yes, much better. I think we have to be careful when describing the toxicity of things. Simply stating that something is nontoxic is a good way to be easily brushed off by the antivaccine folks. I understood what you were saying. I'm just being pedantic and a bit of an ass.
I'm not sure about that area of Siberia, but the more sparse the vegetation the better. Sasquatch is typically reported in fairly dense forests, while the Yeti is seen in more mountainous areas. This would make using thermal imaging for locating it much easier.

No, they were really phoning it in.

They are, in fact, DRM free.

Unless, of course, those walls have security cameras mounted on them.
But you haven't seen that exact text, so the point still stands.
The tracks are perfectly executed, and they seem to be designed to be seen from orbit.
Keep in mind most Google Maps imagery comes from airplanes and not satellites*
*No, I did not RTFA or look at the images yet.
I'm not sure aerial photography is smiled upon over Chinese military test grounds.
That is what makes it so much fun.

Where are they racing to?
Miranda.

If you use and iPod, FLAC isn't going to play.

That reminds me: The bad burrito I ate last night has "affected" my digestive system.
When you ate that burrito, you should of known that it wanted to remove regulation.
Why would the general population be building Android from source?

You may want to check on the toxicity of Thiomersal. While I'm not saying that it causes autism, saying it is nontoxic is just as invalid.
He died waiting for the iPhone 5.

people who want a sane window manager
We still have those?
Hey, it is the firehose not the neutrinohose.
That is John Hodgman's job.
He is actually only 14. Poor kid was raised by slashdot.
