It's true that (last time I tried, Hardy) Ubuntu doesn't support it; but Mandriva does. I'd give that a try before Sabayon (unless you really like Gentoo). Back when I last tried Sabayon (fall '07--a lot has changed since then, I'm sure) it didn't support my card.
WPA was sketchy in Mandriva 2008 spring but did work. Good luck!
You've almost thought this out far enough to make an intelligent opinion--but you made one glaring mistake. You said steal the Lincoln.
Software pirates don't steal anything, they make a copy of it and don't pay the original owner.
Since this is not possible with tangible goods, your car analogy breaks down a bit. A more fair analogy is that the person steals the Lincoln MKS, drives it around town, then returns it in exactly the same condition in exactly the same place (and somehow with exactly the same mileage) so that the only way the dealership could know it had ever been tampered with is to check their security cameras. The would-be cartheif then tells his friends how much he liked the car and that they should try it out themselves.
Now he definitely trespassed but the dealer isn't really without anything. However he might not buy a Lincoln now since he already completed his errands around town.
I've always wished there would be such a thing as mobile-ATX. I would LOVE to be able to replace the PSU (even if the power cord was still proprietary), put in a better screen, better speakers, a better case, or mix two crappy/broken laptops to make one decent one.
It burns me up there's virtually nothing of the sort available.
That's a great idea! I'm gonna be mounting a wind power generator on my car to improve gas mileage. I don't think it'll get all the way to infinite but I bet I could easily get a good 300-350MPG out of this thing!
Those are actually rather easy for a computer to solve. Mathematical questions can be solved by typing them into google. There is such thing as natural language parsing. It would be another challenge for the spammers, but it would amount to no more than another weapon in the arms race.
NTFS-3G has worked great for NTFS read/write support out of the box for about a year now. It was buggy ("experimental") for about 6 months but AFAIK it works flawlessly now (except for compression and, of course, encyption). Still, your reluctance to take the chance is wholly understandable, especially given the added complexity of a RAID array.
Well said but I have one nitpick. Free software does not mean gratis software (it almost always is gratis but that's beside the point). Free software means that the users are protected by certain rights. It is perfectly acceptable (and preferable to closed source products) to require payment before delivering free software.
Users can't demand that someone make something for them for nothing. I know it seems like that's the case with a name like Free Software but it's not the intention.
Either users need to learn to code and collaborate themselves or they need to provide incentives (monetary, generally) for others to do it for them. A bounty system is a fantastic idea.
The reason that there still aren't great 3d drivers is that the people who really want 3d drivers simply use the binary ones.
Perhaps not the vanilla VNC but TightVNC supports many kinds of compression, most notably jpeg. I've found it usable. Though I prefer not using GUI stuff over the internet as it is too slow.
I've never found a FOSS NX server that had a working download link.
I was about to ask the same thing. Strange that the article could be slashdotted with only 5 comments (based on my last refresh--about 3 minutes ago)...
I liked the ones that could be used as a war machine (giant robot a la Mech Assault, etc). I would build the item, pretend that it was developed by one side, then have the other side copy the blueprints and attempt to build it without the one-of-a-kind pieces. Then I'd make them battle, all in my imagination. Ah fun times. Anyone else come up with names for all their men?
If this had a higher priority it might have choked everything out. If it had a lower priority it wouldn't have worked at all. As it is (neutral) a thing has priority directly proportional to its popularity (providing it doesn't "cheat," so to speak, like torrents do [by making many, many connections]).
Qat!! One of the best Scrabble words! It's an easy way to rid yourself of a Q.

...*whoosh!*
I'm quite sure his sig is intentionally misleading (being a post-facto [right?] fallacy). It's satire.
Thank you, Ted, that was the joke...
How can a post with "HEIL HITLER!" in it get modded interesting?? Isn't it off topic and distasteful?
...Sacrebleu.
Twitter never mentions Windows or Microsoft--he only mentions Windoze and Micro$haft.
Ironically, in my state at least, suicide is illegal (attempted anyway, if you succeed it's not like they can take you to jail).

I'm not positive (and didn't RTFA because I never do =P ) but I'm pretty sure it's Associates [degree] of Psychology.

My opinion anyway; Feel free to rebut it.
If you like a challenge, Torrentflux-b4rt. Can't beat it for coolness =)
RTFA? You must be new here.
I think that's exactly what he meant. He'd rather endanger someone else's daughter than endanger his own. I think that's reasonable enough.
