The conclusion from all this is that even if you don't backup anything for 14 years trusting it all to a free service with a big fat disclaimer in their TOS you still get some bits and pieces back via the good work done by the archive.org and other similar services.
Innovation means replacing it with something better. I don't see anything better replacing it. Bluetooth is already there and has it's limitations. Lightshit is already there so all that digital crap talk is already there. Where is the advantage for you the iphone buyer to have this port removed?
You assume wrong. I have more than one Android device, never installed this app and trying to review gives: "You must install this app before submitting a review."
I studied a bit of thermodynamics in college some too many years ago and even then the total efficiency of an old eastern europe '80s coal burning design was better than that. If you factor in that during winter the same plant is also providing heating for the adjacent city you get even better numbers. Also switching power supplies (virtually all cell phone chargers made in the last 10 years) are much better than 50% with many (mostly?) over 80%.
It's git, changing the origin is not hard, and you should already be keeping a local mirror copy up-to-date. The most that they could keep hostage is the issue trackers and wiki, migrating those in times of anger is not the end of the world.
That's part of the appeal of github, they can't keep anything of value hostage.
Home build system inside a Nanoxia Deep Silence 2 (because the side panels are actually covered in thick noise insulation)
* Sandybridge i7 2600k chosen over an i5 because VMs and k because it was at the same price as the non k version. * Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P rev 1.0 motherboard * 16Gb RAM (Corsair Vengeance Blue) because blue looks good on the gigabyte motherboard * Corsair HX750i PSU because unless I game the fan stays off * Crucial 256 SSD (for boot, LR catalog, etc.) * 4 x 2TB WD Greens in RAID10 (for raw photos, videos, games) * 450Gb velociraptor (for VMs, as it's faster than the raid10 array and also because it allows writing velociraptor in the description) * NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost (enough for 1080p kerbal space program and euro truck simulator 2 ) * optical drive, second network card, serial port * cheap philips 22' lcd
I used it maninly for VMs (experimenting networking, ha setups, etc.), photo editing, gaming. It's barely making any noise because the case is well insulated and the fan's are well chosen and can run at low speeds.
I was not complaining, simply correcting a statement.
Offtopic but you asked: I bought Samsung because the hardware is better than the nexus 5 (the 6 is to big for my taste), has a SD card slot and actually some Samsung apps spare me the half assed crap google pulls in order to shove g+ and hangouts down my throat.
I don't understand. Nobody bothers pirating physical/legal media, that's why DRM only hurts paying customers. Any of the "plebs" knows he can get the file off piratebay and incidentally that file won't require DRM chips, phoning home, standing on your right toe while tickling your left ear in order to play.
1. How many accidents have happened in the last years due to misprograming of ECUs. (Not damaging brakes trying to replace them, no law will stop the idiot from kiling himself and others)
2. How many independent and small shops that eat into automakers profits will close down due to the impossibility of performing any but the most simple repair jobs? Or how many of the exorbitantly expensive "authorised" programmers they will sell to such shops?
After the humans onboard the ISS test, refine and repeatedly upgrade various aspects of the system, while also shooting stuff that is closest to the ISS in the process nothing stops us from mounting the final all better and improved (tm) version on a satellite in another area of interest.
"in targeted benchmarks" is the key in that phrase. They destroy the competition in targeted benchmarks, but normal desktop/gaming usage doesn't really benefit from these improvements.
The big issue for me is that around here the chance of having my car repaired by a moron is a lot greater if I go to a dealer shop instead of some trusted garage that all my friends use.
False. I moved my boot disks (raid 0, intel rst) from an i7 2600k to a dual xeon build without issues.
Galaxy s5. Close enogh, better screen to size ratio.
The laptop - desktop analogy is wrong.

Unfortunately most of same people go out and buy the thinner glossier shit phone they find while bitching all over about how bad plastic phones are.
"non-standard serial ports"
That's a joke right?
Wrong

It will be the best they ever made!

If it's not incremental it's a sync, hot copy, whatever you want to call it, but not a backup.

My pentium III missed the cut as well for windows 10. What are you trying to say?
No you can't disable *every* app. On my S5 for example there are several for which the "Disable" button is disabled.
For many it's also patience, HDTV comes first, 720p hours later and 1080 can take up to a day to appear.

I'd look at a statistic:
Yes, sure, it's for our safety.

Oh no, stupid scientists and engineers. Throw away your simulations and projections. Lonely AC commenter on slashdot says you're wrong!
