  1. Re:Still on Experts Claim HIV Patients Made Non-Infectious · · Score: 1

Those who receive treatment don't live long enough to die of old age unless they contracted it late in their life. (Very rare cases are an exception and I've not seen any). The longest amount of time a person has lived with HIV and hasn't gotten AIDS, that I could find mind you, was up to 25 years, and I'm going to bet that person was rich out of his mind.

While there are too many factors to determine how long average joes can live with HIV/AIDS, and that it varies from person to person, it is still complete and total bullcrap to say people rarely die of it these days--even more so to then proceed and call me a twit. That's extremely mature, let me tell you. I can see why you'd post as anonymous.

You're obviously not aware of Africa, and I doubt good treatment that would allow you to live that long with HIV/AIDS is affordable to people in general (And I dont mean just Africa). I would ask you to correct me if I'm wrong but I can tell you're not worth hearing from.

  2. Still on Experts Claim HIV Patients Made Non-Infectious · · Score: 1

I still wouldn't take that kind of risk even if the person that had AIDS (Not necessarily to my knowledge) wasn't "infectious."

Every other STD out there is still just as infectious/contagious, and there are STDs that are more common than HIV. If people would stop sleeping with everybody, there probably wouldn't be any need for this. You're still gonna die a horrible disease ridden death. Work on finding a cure instead of giving HIV patients an excuse to have sex anyway.

This may or may not be the same kind of technology that was mentioned in another slashdot article, about a robot that could create a 3d environment of what it sees and identify certain things (Bombs, survivors in a building, etc). I'm quite impressed. This kind of technology eliminates the danger associated with a lot of tasks that would normally dangerous if not unmanned.

It seems to me that it would be too difficult to classify if somebody is truly lost other than through the most obvious signals.

Maybe someone is walking fast because they're lost.

Maybe they're waiting because they're lost, and moving around would just make it worse. There would also probably be numerous cases of the robot classifying people as "disoriented" when they're really not. Mind you I could be wrong about all of these things and perhaps they were taken into consideration already. However, a video of the robot in demonstration or some such would help me (and others) to judge for themselves. Lastly, what the robot would classify as "disoriented" is unclear.

I don't use Myspace anymore, and the only picture of me that I have on my old, rotting profile is an ancient one of me holding my parakeet. Needless to say, my parakeet is now dead (I actually have no idea how) and I look very different from the picture.

The majority of Myspace's userbase, by now, consists of middle school/high school girls (And guys to a lesser extent), and the stalkers who attempt to prey on them.

Long story short, if you don't want the world the know what your name is, what you look like, and possibly what school you go to, don't put it on Myspace. As of this article, don't think setting your profile/pictures to private will do any good either!

I'm not sure if it's the 4th amendment or simply our school district policy. In any case we have probation/police officers at our school who hang around in the hallways incase something happens and do many other things. They're not allowed to search any specific student's property without reasonable suspiscion. Well, then again, lockers are considered the school's property, so I suppose they could search them whenever they wanted to, because they do drug searches without warning, and they go hardcore, dogs and everything. I ought to edit the school locker part out of there. Silly slashdot for not letting me correct my msiteaks. In any case, as this article indirectly states, it's only a matter of time before privacy means nothing in our country anyway.

I'm all for discovering causes and all but I saw nothing about patients with the A1 Mutation being incapable. There was one such local news story about how a virus was discovered that causes obesity. But the way to ditch obesity remains unchanged--diet and exercise. I only hope people don't use this "mutation" as an excuse to do whatever they want. Don't be getting any ideas now kids...

What part of that makes it acceptable to completely and utterly violate somebody's privacy like that? Last time I checked you don't search anything be it an iPhone or a school locker unless you suspect something illegal is involved. I don't have an iPhone but this is all the more reason I'm not getting one.
