If this is true, and a person must carry a gun to safely traverse the distance back and forth to the ball diamond, then that country is an incredible amount of trouble.
Why did his wife feel the need to carry a gun into a stadium of full people?
I'm not trolling, and it will probably be misconstrued as such, but perhaps people are completely missing the problem.
Lets say, that stadium comfortably holds 40,000 people. Lets say 1% of them have guns. Thats 4,000 people. I know small countries that don't have that level of armament. Chances are, if said wife pulled her gun (I still can't fathom a reason why), she would probably be shot dead by the other 3,999 people.
Especially since it will just _move_ somewhere else. I wrote a long-winded paragraph highlighting several hypocrisies between lots of money spent on preventing me from downloading movies, but just about zero is spent on real crimes, like trafficking of kiddie porn, snuff etc...
Let the record/movies companies burn, I download and distribute movies I don't watch nor care about to help bring them to their knees quicker.

Not like I use autodesk for anything, but I'll make sure my engineering/modelling friends know of this. Hopefully by good old fashion word of mouth, we can teach this bully a lesson.

Combined with the fact that it didn't accept my nvidia drivers. took me a bit longer before I was able to get the bloody thing up and running. I'm no linux noob, and Ubuntu isn't quite ready for mass desktop distribution. I'll stick with my tried and true RH9:)

My first job was working as a C# programmer for a large Canadian freight company (Arrow Transportation), my boss had zero idea how to develop software, consequently it was basically all up in his head what he wanted to see, the program didn't follow any particular development model, and subsequently failed. What did I learn? Only work for people who do not suffer from the Peter Principle.

I think either we can wean ourselves slowly off our dependencies on fossil fuels, migrating slowly to emerging technologies, hopefully achieving best-case harmony with our environment, or we continue pell-mell our flagrant overuse of a critical limited resource until *POOF* all gone and it all descends into anarchy.
Trust me, the problem of soccer moms unable to drive massive SUV's to the grocery store that is three blocks away, will seem vastly miniscule in comparison to the Western Star Super B-train unable to move food from the processing plant in Oklahoma to New york, resulting in mass starvation.
I predict big changes in our lifetime, so better get used to using the word 'any'
I see where you are coming from, and I agree with 99% of your statement. Yes, I have been there, the introvert geek who would rather spend all waking time in front of his computer, no friends, cry cry whine whine, but suicide never entered my mind.
There would be no suicide in this case without the willful, malicious intent to construct a false friendship created by a knowing adult.
I realize you probably didn't want to start a flame war or any heavy political statement, but the above I disagree with. If this poor child was this near to suicide, anything would have pushed her over.

It's a good thing I don't watch American Gladiators or House or 24 or any other mind-numbing american TV. This problem would solve itself if, oh I dunno, people turned off their TV and engaged in outdoor activities, or time with the family, etc.
Don't mean to preach, but come on people, American Gladiators? Who among us cares to actually record those shows for posterity and multiple viewings? Please identify yourselves so the purging can begin.
