Wow, talk out of your arse much? Parachutes and paragliders are exceptionally safe, exceptionally predictable and operate expectedly at all altitudes.
I can tell you've never had to land either, but I would imagine trying to land a fixed or rigid wing to be much more difficult, and as I doubt you can even comprehend, difficult = injuries.
You'd better stick to digg or wikipedia before tossing your uneducated opinions around/.
Well, that may be true enough, but I have to say in response, how much did it cost to port? Why does it take 3 years to develop and release a game? Why are the game spec's that high? I think they are doing it to themselves. I actually have a high-end system, and I chuckle to myself when people bitch about the cost of the PS3. My gfx card costs as much as a PS3. That being said, I'm not the norm.
1) Until game studios start releasing games that run comfortable on mid range systems
and
2) Release on a dev schedule of under a year
Yup, PC gaming will suffer
I say suffer, because I still believe PC gaming to survive the current onslaught of console gaming. I still feel PC's to be the superior platform for FPS (purely for input) and simulation-type games. A future developer, along the lines of id, will recognize the void, and release the next doom.
Same. Recently, I have become aware of an incident where an EA game (Latest C&C) was running fine on a 64bit OS, then decided to turn itself off (It was legit, it must have got a call from home update that this OS was not supported. The software had said this was a copy protection violation. Sorry? A legal game, works fine, then shuts itself off after a couple weeks of usage?
So copy protection has actually made this person obtain an illegal cracked copy to play a game he bought. Go figure.
AvP2 SP (and MP to a lesser extent) is still one of my favorite games of all time. I know exactly where you are talking about, and I did the exact same thing:)
Same, the game is hated on by people who never played the first when it dropped (I'm happily one of the many that crashed that FTP server) and didn't buy the 3rd. No loss to id, keep on truckin' John!
Well, define slow. I play CSS religiously, and I guess it does fall under the category of "twitch", and it is currently the most popular online FPS but at least a factor of 2. Specialized hardware counts in this game, as stated before number of buttons on the mouse, weight of the mouse, granularity of the laser. I play on a large, ergonomic keyboard, with a fair degree of spaces between the keys that feels more "comfortable" to me.
Comfort counts when you play for more than a half hour or so;)
Perhaps I'm the only one versed in extremely low level haxoring techniques, employed over generations and generations of haxingors, but why not serve a warrant, obtain said computer, then use the boot disk?:)
Nobody can rush to the coffee pot in the morning like me. Sometimes people get nervous when I sprint to the coffee room with a 12 inch blade, but as we all know, you run faster with a knife.
EXACTLY. Let them read my nonsensical jibba-jabba.. there are damn near unbeatable encryption algorithms that exist today.
My attitude is, if you're not smart enough to encrypt your sensitive data, then you've got it coming. It seems that the US bounces back and forth between a nanny-state and the big-brother state. People, you have to take care of your own, you simply can't trust ISP's, routers, google, the girl that swipes your visa at the corner station, etc etc etc.
#2 if you look through history, the average GLOBAL temperature over a one year period has typically hovered around 0 deg C for most of history. I hear that is an important temperature for something..... Anytime the temperature strays from freezing dramatic changes happen to the global environment.
This is an important fact. I live in Northern Alberta, Canada, and I want to punch people in the snoot who complain about global warming, melting ice-shelves, sea-levels rising, as we seem to be undergoing a second ice age. It just snowed 2 feet, and the temperature is below zero; caveat, its the end of April.
David Suzuki and Al Gore apparently have never visited Edmonton;)
The solution is simple. Store your data in an Oracle DBMS. Mirror your data on two or more drives. Swap out storage medium as the need requires. Do routine off-site backups, depending on the importance of data.
IT companies have been doing this since the dawn of time. The particular benefit company that I work at, has data archived and digitized from... the 50's!! (lifetime maximums and such).
Its not such a big deal to store data over time. The key is to always keep up with the current medium of storage. Perhaps the author of the article only has one IDE harddrive.
I was just thinking this, and if and when this biomass fuel supply does become readily available, guess who it will be coming from? O&G companies, and they will be charging similar prices as gas, because really, who wants to take a pay cut.

I'm quite surprised there aren't more allusions to SkyNet.

I'd glare at ATI, they are obviously the culprits.
That box "thing" hardly looks aerodynamic enough to cut through the air with the aid of that little bitty propeller.

Good lord man, Aliens was a landmark movie back when it dropped in, what, 1979? Prior to that it was all big explosions and poor costumes.
Alien brought setting, lighting, foreshadowing and more importantly, IMHO, pacing, and gave the genre legitimacy.

Make that two. Not that I have anything against spore or its creators, I just cannot support their decision.
Note to self: Avoid the maiden trip in this car.

Excellent point my friend. Its a slippery slope.

This above post-inducer comment has induced me to post a reply to said post. Induce Induce, post post.

Nice, btw

Heads up people, its comin' atcha
Says you, I rather enjoyed hotseat HOMM, and Star Control 2 Melee battles

How can you make this decision? You're just a grunt, no offense.
Sorry! Couldn't resist, its my favorite movie.
Despite the heat you're taking for this post, I found it to be funny and insightful. Fight the good fight brother.
