the point is that its easier to get to information you car about instead of having to click through a bunch of screens. Yes, its a gimic but it gets its point across.
I also fail to see how this would protect you from a patent troll. There is no deterent for a troll to not sue you, if the troll doesn't make or sell anything that is vulnerable to a counter suit from you or your patent group.
This would only be protection from other members of the group or from someone outside the group and only if the patents in the group are of sufficient quality as to be a deterent.
I agree. Start with Tom Baker and go forward.
Though, I have to admit that going back and watching them now, they don't have quite the same magic.
The episodes later in the Tom Baker years are better than the earliest as they improved quite a lot as they went along, but it may be easier to start at the begining of his term.
If you don't want to go that far back or if you just can't get into the old oes, skip ahead to the "new" series.
The web site is up. I'm looking at it now. If you go to the list of source code you can download,.net 3.5 SP1 is on there..NET 4 beta2 and RC are on the list, although the download link is disabled. Looks like it is probably still being reviewed before being released, otherwise why would it even be on the list? I don't see what all the fuss is about. As or the blog not being updated, if there hasn't been a code drop since the last.net update, then what would they have that they felt like talking about? Just my 2 cents.
I have always heard this refered to as Optomistic Concurancy and it how I usually develop web apps or even non-web apps. Locks tend to be bad for lots of reasons.
plus lots of people already have Visual Studio
and XNA 3.0 just came out. My Christmas project is actually to learn XNA and see if I can put something out on the XBOX360.
I know Slashdot is anit-MS but if your app ran on Windows Mobile you could sell your apps yourself or through a distrubuter if you still wanted to. There is a decent sized market for Windows Mobile Apps and Palm apps.
Off the top of my head I don't know if you can run a J2ME app on Windows Mobile but it sounds reasonable or porting it to C# wouldn't be very hard.
Just doing a quick search seems to indicate that at least some Win Mobile phones come with J2ME and I saw some links for tools that claim to "convert" J2ME to WinMobile and Palm.
Anyway, its a route worth considering a there is decent market share and you don't need to go through a carrier for smart phones like you would for a regular phone.
Interestingly enough, the Russian's keep a gun on board the international space station. Or more specificly its part of a survival kit on the Soyuz space capsule which is always docked to the station.

So no other phones have buttons on the sides?
