when switching from Tablet mode to Desktop mode "Metro" apps will go from full screen to windowed. In addition there won't be Touch IE and Desktop IE, there will just be IE which will work in Touch and Mouse/Desktop environments. The current IE in the preview is not the final one.
Windows 8.0 will continue to be supported. Windows 8.1 will be supported if you have Update 1 installed. Its only Windows 8.1 that doesn't have Update 1 that is losing support. I'm not a fan of that, but don't make it out to be more than it is. Its certainly not the end of the world.
probably not going to be easy/possible to hit it with something strong enought to make a crater, then hit the crater witht he nuke, and then hope the blast sends it off in a safe direction.
For example, making it easy to screw up something important is not good.
User Interfaces aren't just about making things easier. They are about making the user's job and experience eaiser, which includes not making mistakes. If a task is dangerous, then the user should be warned or restricted in some way.
Clasic example, "Are you sure you want to delete this fie?"
It can be annoying if I relaly want to delete a file, but its also saved me a bunch of times.
When a task becomes easier and easier, people are definitly more likely to perform that task and perform it more often. They are also less likely to consider the consequences.
It is fine that you have automated some difficult and also dangerous task, but you might want to consider some spead bumps and some warnings to make your users stop and think before they do something they might regret.
If you want to go one step further you could make it register with a central location to make sure the user is only using the key on one device. If it isn't out of your price range, there are services that will do this automaticly.
This is enough to work for any mostly honest user. I'm sure it can be circumvented by someone who is determined to bypass it, but its enough to prevent most users from buying 1 license and installing it on 100 devices.
I can't help thinking this is beating a dead horse. Isn't it fair to say that the market is moving away from DVRs and towards streaming on demand.
I used to have a Tivo. And then when I had Dish for a year, I had their DVR, but that was years ago. We dropped Cable TV and kept Cabled Internet. We watch everything we care about on Netflix or Amazon over our XBox or one one of our laptops.
I know not everyone does that, but it seems to be the way things are headed.
Making DVRs less useful is just going to drive that trend quicker.
i'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the way it would work is that they would drive him to their private plane at a private hanger at an airport which would essentially be an extension of the embasy. He could go from the embasy, to an embasy car, to the embasy hanger, to the embasy plane without leaving embasy custoday and then he would be flown out on the official Ecuador plane (or one they contracted which would effectivly be the official plane for the duration of the trip). The UK couldn't/wouldnt' touch him because it would violate their soveirnty and or diplomatic immunity.
.net apps are not x86 apps. The real reason that.NET applications won't run on Windows RT (on ARM) is that, so far, MS isn't allowing any desktop apps to be installed by the user. In order to put an application on a Windows RT machine, it needs to be a Metro Style app which means it has to be WinRT (C#/VB/C++ & XAML or HTML5).
Not to say that MS won't put any.NET or Desktop Applications on Windows RT. Since the desktop will be there there will be a bunch of desktop utils some of which might be.NET and the rest will be native C++. Also, MS Office is either going to ship with the devices or be installable later and will be a Desktop app with a Metro design.
Of course none of that is true for Wndows 8 on Intel which can run all the old and all the new.
Yeah. I've had a couple of WPs which I have really liked (Samsung Focus and Nokia 900), but there are essentially no assories while there are tons of iPhone assories because every iPhone has a standard input in a standard location and every phone is the same size.
Assories makers can't target "Windows Phone" because there are several models and they all put the USB plug in a different spot.
I've heard the comment repeated many times that WP is missing apps. I can think of one or two (Pandora for example...) but would anyone care to list the important apps aren't on WP?
that there is no fallout from automation and that there are always new types of jobs to move into?
so now they are going to teach drivers to hit speed bumps at full speed since the speed bump they see is probably fake.
there is no annual license fee for Windows 10
yes, unless something unexpected happens this is just a short reprieve.
He didn't say native speakers. He said international language.

Ballmer is CEO.
Gates is Chairman of the Board, not Chief Executive Officer.
MS doesn't have a President and I don't believe its a Chairman's job to put in those kinds of hours. That's why they hire a CEO.
The Chairman leads the Board of Directors and it is the Board's job to direct the CEO.
Ask Brandon Mayfield if fingerprints are unique.

Has anyone here used any of these? What are they good for?
Simple Serial numker/License Key

if you can't spend ~$100 on aviation headphones, you could also look at a pair of shooting earmuffs. probably won't do as good a job as the aviation ones, but there are lots of different ones and they cost less. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_9?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=shooting+ear+protection&sprefix=shooting+%2Caps%2C330
I already forgot the new blackberry ... wait, what were we talking about?

tell that to all the people who work so you can sit on your lazy butt
