while you are true that there are viruses for Linux and it is a smaller target, they are not JUST as vulnerable, the entire UNIX base (small programs that do little and user privilege restrictions) make UNIX systems much more secure from the start. Its also pretty much impossible to infect a well secured system (SELINUX + PAX + hardened toolchain) and this seams like an extra layer to provide automated selinux-like functionality.
I see now is not a good time use the word insure around Americans!
On topic,
Why couldn't malware makers then just insure their programs emulate this profile?
They could but this 1) makes it a trickier to write the malware 2) limits the scope of damage the malware can do to what the program is doing (much like selinux)
Seems like a pain to have to reboot to play games... but I guess I already do that between Debian/Windows.:-/
I wonder if the limitation comes from the BIOS or the operating system, ive always been disapointed in the need to reboot (as far as i could figure it out) to switch from a radeon based system to an flgrx based one, perhaps having 2 actual chips could push developers to find a way to change the graphics driver without restarting the system and just require an X restart or better just a new X session. hell given that their using separate chips wouldn't it be possible (but not easy) to boot up the nvidia card then change the client part of Xorg without changing the server. Unfortunately i doubt asus will consider this and the bios will probably need a full restart to change the graphics drivers, especially given that its a gaming/windows machine.
And the gnome crowd, KISS means that the option hes looking for is in some gconf entry. IIRC when you add a new user to a kde system you are provided with a dialog that asks which base setup you want windows/mac/unix/linux and it then gives the basic window management and key binding to aproximate that system.
Pretty much what is expected, almost nothing can restricted a persons actual rights (well NDAs and stuff but generally speaking EULAs cant) and there is a strong president that (black box) reverse engineering is completely legal. This is just a harassment case
What feels non-native about a game that uses Cider once it starts running?
performance, well given that spore was developed for cider it will probably be OK, but despite not being an emulator wine simply cant perform as well as windows (well until it gets a kernel module anyway)
Actually i'd guess its not money just effort. I dont know much about multiplayer game platforms but id guess microsoft are offering a well designed wasy to use interface to sort out all the multiplayer stuff that will be alot easier than developing thier own for scratch. Unfortunately for those of us not on windows, this is the same trick they used to get directx everywhere and few games will turn their noeses up at an easy to implement multiplayer system for xbox-live AND windows-live. The real kicker is that it removes the need for servers and my 1st introduction to Linux was because a lot of game servers would run Linux even for windows only games.
but what can you actually do with this? if i understand this correctly: if you visit badsiteA it can force your browser to badsiteB but as BadsiteA can already malware you up there is no point Perhaps if it can be used across tabs then the old browsers (not IE8 / chrome) are vulnerable to changing banktab to badsitetab without you noticing
[citation needed] as most of the knife crime hysteria is based around teenage gangs that are off records, I would be supprised if there was an increase in knife crime according to the stats.
you know i just wasting feeling the flames enough so i thought id help you out.
How did the English, who once ruled a vast empire using slave bitches, become such sissified little bitches? Ban guns, gun crime skyrockes(I don't believe wikipeida when i look at the facts that show a reduction in gun crime immediately after the ban and continue to show much lower levels of gun crime & murder than the US, because wikipeida is full of shit eating faggots). Ban knives, knife crime escalates(Sure if you look it up in books, you'll see that theres no new law on knives at all and this escalation must have some other cause, but books are for pussies).
BTW, if you like the way that England is going with this, vote Osama, he's got the same thing in mind for America, sure he hasn't told anybody yet, but thats because his just a lying nigger looking to steal your TV on his way to the mosque.
While I suppose this is acceptable for the whole "Web 2.0 means the web is the only useful thing on your PC!" crowd, I'd like to have a few (3 or 4)browser tabs open while I'm playing a game, for example, without the browser killing my gaming experience.
Try upgrading to a modern OS, when you launch the 3D game if the browser is not in use its memory should put into swap, and if you have an OS with a decent IO handler (not linux, or at least Ubuntu in my experience) the swapping of the memory will barely be noticeable. If your going to compare about memory usage then you should really be talking about multitasking, so a genuine complaint would be OO and FF both using too much memory, but this is slashdot so we all use emacs vim anyway
Flashblock is not secure, it can be got around with object tags, its a nuisance blocker not a security tool. TBH i wish there was a security aware plugin blocker as Noscript is just too much of a PITA to use
Then when someone tries to open connection one million and one comcast goes and says "No, we can't allow you to do that since we already have too many bittorrent connections in this area", they do this by sending fake reset messages (Which is arguably fraud).
Tbh that doesnt sound too bad, i mean at least your web browsing isnt effective. Im on virgin and i think they use the same software, but its configured so that whenever im 'caught' (what i need to do get caught varies on time, upload speed, number of unencrypted bittorrent handshakes*) i either get slowed down (google ping goes from ~20 -> 200) which is annoying but useable for browsing or beaten with the slow stick (ping go to ~3000) which makes browsing impossible.
*is there any way to avoid these, all the actual connections are encrypted but the handshakes are still open, is this a protocol limitation or a client problem.
3) given that on a clear day sarah palin has extraordinary vision ( ~ 60 miles), would she not be more use on the front line?
Nothing can stop the dancing bunnies, NOTHING.

why X86? if people are serious about netbooks why not start using a more power efficient archetecture (probably ARM).

Google are just borrowing enlightenments definition.
OTOH calling it gamma software would be sort of cool

At youtube resolution its quite hard to tell if the gun has replica or D.E.S.E.R.T E.A.G.L.E .50 written down the side
This is a good deal for travelers and occasional users; the alternatives are roaming or WiFi hotspots, both of which are much more expensive.
Really? i suppose it depends where you are, in london i see countless free wifi, and if that fails theres always unsecured or WEP about.
only these idiots are running round thinking knives are cool, changing uk to www seams a bit above them tbfh
And I'll happily stick to England where i don't have to.
Each to their own i suppose.

I was wondering why everybody was talking about CC, when BSD and MIT sound exactly like what hes after.

yeah but i download the distros from my ISP's mirror, and then torrent them.
[proof needed], before i put on my tinfoil hat, id like to see some proof, hell even a couple of anecdotes?
