I have a Ted Turner cell ® in my brain and I colorized all my old black and white memories.
I think Kagura has the best answer. How do you know it is color, if the images don't come from an eye stalk. I could think of anything and say it is color in my imagination and it would simply have that trait. I could imagine this text is white on blue if I wanted. I think that the experimenters were making the subjects believe in <RED>XUL
IPV6 is great because everybody's brain implant can have an IP address and skynet can broadcast a shutdown code to humans to avert the messiness of a human-cyborg war. I want to sftp to my refrigerator to see what is in there so I don't have to get up and check.
It got most of my programming positions by working in another department. I worked in QA and designed automated tests for the hardware receiving before it was installed. I worked designing software for systems control in chip fabs and I programmed at night on things I enjoyed because it was just not fun at work. Meetings, politics, bad choices, Windows, corporate games, and everything that is work. I enjoy doing open source more than any job I could ever have. The commercial programming like Windows device drivers was never fun. Sadly, businesses like MS products and they are never fun to use. Many businesses would make more profit if they used open source SW, but they often don't know how to deal with the idea of having a brain and then having your own thoughts in it.
Yes but IPV6 has 2 naughty bits and a terrorist communication bit to make it easy for packet snooping. As far as baldness, I thought that all the future people were supposed to be completely hairless when they evolved into the perfect human.
GGG://hoist.by.ones.own.petard.gov There was an article here on a bad search warrant that led to a criminal. So it seems, that no matter how badly the process is flawed, the ends justify the means and I think it is appropriate that if every single thing I do is scrutinized in or out of context, then the same should be true for the politicians who are more likely to do a great deal of damage, simply because they control many more resources, that are supposedly owned by everybody.
If I had a killer robot and I just entered coordinates at random, I am sure I would eventually get all the bad guys, however there might not be any good guys left either.
It would seem that like everybody, you should be cautious of how you use the power you have and if you cannot exercise good judgment, you should not have that power.
Clearly these people are not careful with their power and should therefore have less of it. If a person carries a gun, ( and police do ) then they have additional responsibilities of action that include NOT doing more damage than good, whether it is to the rights of individuals or innocent bystanders. Just because they have uniforms and are certified by the ( State, Local, Schoolboard, FBI, ATF ) they can still do damage and what deterrent is loss of income compared to years in jail. It seems that if a policeman kills somebody by accident, they are assumed to have more rights to act blindly than anybody else when it comes to their responsibility for damage.
I was riding with my daughter the other day and a policeman in a small town stopped me for something and I can't even remember his excuse, but he came to the door of my car with his gun drawn and pointed at my head. I got no ticket, but he did so much damage to my opinion of this country that I find it hard to support any police if they are allowed to wander around threatening people with weapons that they should not be allowed to carry. As a citizen, if I walked up to a stranger and pointed a gun at their head, I would likely go to jail for a long time. They are allowed to do that and just say, "oops, my bad".
It makes me wonder if they have the tools available to do their job. When I did this type of work we had analyzers and ICE machines which makes it easy if you know how to use them. Are the kernel designers getting enough support to buy the needed hardware? Sometimes these things go beyond the software and can happen because of a physical condition that is untrappable in SMM, like a DMA over the top of refresh cycle fault.
I found this wiki when trying to figure out what you were talking about and there are some very grim predictions there.
http://earthbydavidbrin.pbwiki.com/Predictions
This is kind of like one of the predictions there. I think it would be nice to make a Google service that was a number that I could call with caller ID enabled to send video of a breaking news event and people could get a couple bucks for breaking a news story by being where it happens. The sad part of all this is that with the advances in simulation and graphics it is possible to spoof a complete video of something or somebody. I suppose if I registered my mobile number with Google to allow me to send video news and images it might work.
It might be better to have an algorithm that could be incorporated into the search. I could write a simple xml file that was like a grep template that took the attributes of the information and its content and applied it before I even get my search results. If they are doing the search anyway I could upload a parametric that was a list of things I don't want or prefer in the result pages. The search algorithms themselves could be searched for one that suited a person's interests. If they like fluff and magic then filter it that way. I am sure that most people would not like the choices that/.ers would make as we would have search results that contained hexadecimal, binary or octal humor ( 101 ). Things like word length and word variability could be a possible discriminating factor. I like reading about "hadrons", but other people may prefer something that causes "hadrons" s/dr/rd/.
That was insightful. I addition I would say that it depends on the person and it has to be a very large sample to be accurate. Every single person can have a million tiny || large biases based on their experience.
I also think that the experimenter could definitely add something to this if they knew they were playing a certain character. The could model their behavior in game to act out a stereotype. Not just worded funny, but a flawed experiment.
You may be right. I had not seen that study , there is more recent anecdotal research and I think that more will be discovered. In that article from 2004 they stated it was not considered a complete proof and more recent research indicates otherwise. It would be interesting to see some research that started with what is considered essential DNA and then work forward from lethal levels to include other parts to identify essential parts as has been done with single celled organism. Technically speaking, the development of natural immunity to warts is in fact a positive effect. It is possible in nature that what is junk in one context is useful in another.
And all things that are not yet discovered could be called 'dark inventions'. I can imagine that the extra load of SINEs and LINEs could act to slow the replication process of the cell to make cell replication slower and more stable or that it could change the synchronization of different parts or act to increase the diffusion distance between one part and other.
A strange thing happened, I removed the junk data ( sync preamble ) from my floppy disk encoding and it quit working. I agree that SINEs and LINEs are less of a factor than others but a system is responsive to all its parts and until somebody makes a human clone with all the short and long repeats removed I assume that it does something, even if it just makes a different sync preamble or a getter ( to use a radio tube analogy ) for other junk.
Well I have created a few humans already and they also have children. The normal way is much easier. As far as neural arrays that exceed human understanding this is a sticky question when you ask who would be the designated driver. Very much depends on how all this is implemented and I imagine it will be a bigger zoo than the internet. It is easy to use machines to increase our effectiveness but it levels the playing field of who is smarter when everybody has an AI as an advisor. It seems we are backing into another problem like the internet and how it influences life itself in odd ways.It is good to consider what it will become before it becomes a reality. I think the goals of the people who create the machines will tell how they effect those who don't prepare for the eventuality.
Kotaku took this occasion to ask whether "statements" can and should be made via video games, and how it affects the ongoing question of whether video games should be considered art.

By doing such a silly thing, somebody has served the opposite purpose. And this why I like slashdot.
As far as categories go, art and other things can be merged and it is not always possible to determine where the water ends and the alcohol begins in a drink.
I see no information there. If this were more than a cheerleading rally and they had some concrete information on the models of space, economy, mind, networks, medicine and in general reality, I would need to watch it. What gain could I have in staring at a picture drooling over the amount of non-information. This has always been the Ms approach. It works. People like to sit around and look at pictures and not think. They will pay for the privilege.
Seems that the path is not that simple. If I start at daylight and travel to the pole it will be 1/4 circumference and it would be morning again on the other side. So more like 400kph?
Like freedom itself, it requires constant attention. It is never really achieved, however if you fail to try, you will certainly get the default configuration, which is slavery. I think it is good that some people like RMS and many others pay attention to this. Compromise in practice is inevitable, but compromising the goal is not. I have nothing belonging to others to hide, so I hide it very well.
Tissues can be generated without removing them from a corpse. Yes the voice box can be changed. Entire voice boxes can be built from existing tissue with lasers. Stem cell research has evolved to replace organs. Human neural cells have been integrated in an animal brain. Gene sequences can be changed and grown. New genes can be incorporated in living cells. This is not the only face transplant and in fact I was assisting a doctor in ENT when she rebuilt the lower half of a face in 1975. She also built voice boxes for people who had none, congenitally. I guess we will soon be going to the 'Carousel'.
It seems there is some logical flaw in the entire process. Does a civil service exam make a person impossible of being a pedophile? If so, let's all take a civil service exam and then there could be no pedophiles. The only result of having a separate category of 'good' person who can do no evil is that they will become the only possible source of evil. I think crimes against children are horrible and twisting their minds to say that freedom is oligarchy is a crime against children itself. I think screwing over everybody is a sex crime also.
I wasn't aware that serial killers formed colonies?
Okay it was a very weak joke. But I have thought about this and it seems that Hannibal Lecter was the most insightful saying "you should look at what they covet". I guess like protecting any asset, whether it is network security, data , military bases, or people, the easiest way is to protect it at the target and prevent it at the origin. The path between seems as it would be virtually infinite in possible convolutions.
If they discover why colony collapse happens, then they could cause colony collapse disorder among serial killers. The concept seems very old as it has been stated. These principles would apply to all situations and to consider another application, how to identify the source of lobbyists that poison information wells. It would seem that they would have to go to great lengths to conceal their -hive- and would constantly move it to obfuscate matters further. All tools can be applied to help and hinder, the root cause still remains which is the conflict itself.

Did he own part of the phone-sex companies. That would explain that it was just a way to steal money and hide it. Less exciting story though.
