    I recall Forest Gump had the first fake crowd scene by digitally replicating a small number of people. Then its been used a mass scale since then- Gladiator, Phantom Manace, Disney Hunchback of Notre Dame, Lord of the Rings, Troy, to name a few.

    Paul Allen's music museum has an LED TV screen along one wall which must be at least 50-feet tall. It uses LED quads red-blue-green-white to light-up pixels. I recall it as about 1000 by 700 pixels - pretty much medium standard HD-TV. If the resolution increased an order of magnitude in each direction, it would be even more fantastic.

    I was looking for a web page describing this screen, but couldnt find it.

    There are lots of papers about "fossil galaxies" lurking in the Milky Way. Often its a a cluster or cloud with an unusual internal orbital trajectory/velocity. This means it hasnt reach an equilibrium state since merger and converted to a normal orbit.

    Are the electronic machines in urban areas or rural? The places that could afford them may have a different voter make-up than those that didnt. I could think of a half-dozen other factors that need be tested.

    A possible failing is that Negroponte was operating outside of the market. Who knows his costs? He is soliciting governments directly, not competative bidding.

    His intentions are noble, but the execution is questionable.

    If NASA holds firm to ending the shuttle era and space station construction by 2010, there is no way in hell NASA can do 13 more missions by 2010. I hope the next president in her wisdom will grant NASA the leeway to finish its shuttle tasks. Got to decide soon, because shuttle refurbishing orders take up to two years to fullfill.
