Only string physicist or number theorist can lay claim to be a true nerd brahmin and king. Everyone else is a nerd of lower caste, including me and most people in slashdot. A respectable Brahmin is beyond money and women. They only need those for genetic continuation and as a support for their lifestyle.

After all, nobody will confuse sprintf and printf because the human brain handles the first and last letter real good. If there's another function called printtf, a lot of people will get it wrong I think.

We don't give damn about spaces, variable names, etc. Heck, i wrote several functions with name such as mbiasi() which is actually done by taking initial letter of every word in the string "my boss is a stupid idiot". When he ask, I just told him, that it just came to my mind. That made me think, that maybe the word 'fsck' and 'gimp' might not be as wierd as it sounds.
Other than making it fast, why do you want to optimise your code. Isn't the whole thing about obtimising code is to reduce resources and increase speed.
Coders who never had formal training actually came up with most of the more interesting ideas. Designing and stuff are just not their interest. At least they make their own libraries but you can expect them to share it gratefully before turning it into a practice of cryptology.
IT without programming is like asking physicist to dispense with math. They don't need to know a lot of programming, but a basic knowledge is required. To dispense programming in IT courses is like dispensing with math in Physics courses. totally unacceptable.

I dare anyone perform a Hurst analysis on recent months and still claim global warming. Anyway, why would i discuss about weather. Heck, where i came from, it's hot all year round.
Greenhouse effect can definitely be mimicked. Create an airtight box, put mirrors on top to allow light. Change the composition of Atmosphere inside and observe the temperature. Even simpler, put a transparent plastic on top of the glass and observe the temperature, and you don't even need to control the atmosphere inside. I'm sure this experiment is doable.

The solar minimum started on January and the number of sunspots until now is still very low, which coincides very well with the drop of temperature since the beginning of the year. Even the previous warming coincides with high activity in the Sun.
An increase of 0.01% in CO2 is never a problem. Even if we have 0.1% C02, temperatures won't change much. The green house theory only work if only we have significant amount of C02, which is something like 10% or more. Temperature of the Earth had always been chaotic and will continue to be so regardless of CO2. The experiment can be done by any lay person with enough initiative.
Renewable energy isn't doing much either. We have been hearing people and government pouring money into the research for at least a decade and we seen very little improvements (it took less than a decade to develop nuclear).
The economic aspects doesn't even end there, the solar rooftops for example took more energy (in terms of electricity) to manufacture (equates in CO2) compared with the energy (electricity) it could potentially saved given in an ideal situation. The installation cost would only redeem its value after 200 years of electricity saving.
The ships idea is equally stupid too... Using wave energy to pump water and windmill to spray it in the air, makes it a suspect for violating the 2nd law of thermodynamics. Dreams will always be a dream like always.
We haven't even start to calculate the amount of energy (equals CO2) it would require to produce that armada of ships and the amount of CO2 it would trap....
To cut the amount of CO2 effectively with the rising world population, dissolving all means of transportation just wouldn't cut it anymore. We have to massacre all farm animals, stop eating meat, destroy all rice+wheat fields and even impose a quota on the amount of breath you can take per minute. Otherwise sending some nukes to India or China will also achieve similar result although temporary warming is expected.
To summarise it, i would like to inform the general populace that global warming is a hoax created by advertising company to rip off money from your wallet. Just observe how money is cycled in eco-organizations, most will actually be used for "educational" purpose, which is another term for advertisement. The few left are used by club members activity (or recreation), organizing protest and hiring lawyers. Sometime they will spend it in some pet research that never produce anything and even if it does, it will have no significant impact. Most major research still came from the government that rips the general taxpayers. Greenpeace is a good start for those who would like to investigate the practices of this organizations.
I demand an expert for my math and physics teachers...!! As i've found out by experience, non-experts tend to become heretics in that subject. They squeeze the elegence out from the original formulation and add their own flavor to it, which end result is simple but wrong. They also tend to urge the students to memorize things that should and could be derived if they had sufficient education. i don't care about other subject, but in Math, getting it correct is important.
Assume that the self selected group of psychics capable of clairvoyance had at least 75% chance of guessing correctly (assumes the test have only 2 options). The 75% chance is because we assume that most psychic guess correctly (or at least having a positive drift towards getting it correct). Then we should from the statistical test of our choosing obtained a result showing at least 70% of them is guessing correctly (approx. 90++% significance).
As with normal people,for similar test we assume 50% chance. The 50% chance are due to random events (if there is 2 options, the chances of getting it correct is 50% each).
To make further credible of the test, we could design the test to make it more difficult to score due to random chance by offering more options. Such as giving more choices of cards to guess from for example.
In the case of psychics, an even simpler solution is to make them pick a lottery number of you. If you win ten times straight, kidnap the guy and put him on your cellar because he's the real thing. Or go to vegas and bet your 20 years of savings on anything he touches:)

It renders fast and has a lot of fun features to play with. I'm already addicted to the mouse gestures up to the point the normal clicking i do with windows feels boring. I wonder if there is any OS that offers mouse gestures??
my problem with apple software update is that it is simply annoying.
not just apple, i'm against all scheduled updates. if its isn't tottaly necessary don't release them. all this updates makes me wonder if i'm still in control of my own pc. That's why beta release exist for testing. Unless all the ends are tight don't release them for the mass.
another complain i have is that apple updater are extremely difficult to uninstall (even after you uninstall their product the updater still persist). i had to delete all the related folders and remove it from registry.
Apple it seems, despite of their protest on microsoft business ethics, believe them to be the correct business model. May they all be damned!!
