I can find a beautiful forest or other natural setting to be "emotionally stimulating", but no one would say that it's art (maybe that of God if you're religious). I think intent is very much part of what makes something art. So with regards to AI making art, for me it would depend on whose intent is was to elicit a reaction, was it from the AI's or its creators? If the latter then he AI is just a tool.
I agree with the quote's assertion that art is a form of communication, but not necessarily emotional, it could be conceptual as well. If the artist didn't want to communicate something they wouldn't show it off, and some of the times an artist or speaker's intent is not well understood, this doesn't mean it's not art.
you seem to be taking this one issue on which they agree and extrapolating that the two parties are the same in all regards. I find this rather disingenuous unless copyright is all you care about in life.
That depends on your morals, I see willful ignorance and blind faith as very amoral. Science opposes those, so to me, the pursuit of science is a moral endeavor.
I haven't heard of this attempted inclusion before. While it's seems bizarre to add the arts to that grouping, I strongly believe that those fields should include some arts education. Art is basically a form of communication or expression and that's a skill many STEM focused people could use more of.
Like it had been cribbed from a WW2 naval script and nobody asked if it made an iota of sense in space.
I wouldn't be surprised if this were the case, the originals' dogfighting scenes were based off WWII movies. Were they trying to pull off a "Wrath of Khan" and missed the mark? Is there some WWII buff out there that's heard this story before?
I also hope that they eventually develop the capability to generate virtual worlds to explore in the way old sci fi books did
It's funny you say that because that's part of the plot of Myst, the D'ni(and Atrus) wrote books describing made up worlds, these can be traveled to though "linking books". Sort of like VR, except the worlds weren't virtual
You might want to check out Subnautica. While it's not that realistic, it is very pretty and mostly relaxing, it does have the rare stressful moment of turning a corner to find some leviathan swimming by. Its focus on exploration and discovering the back story make it a lot of fun.
I think the concept you're thinking of is "play". It's something most people recognize as a sign of intelligence in other animals, maybe it's something we to start integrating in to AI?
If we make companies pay for health insurance of 40hr/week employees, shouldn't they have to pay for 3/4 of a 30hr/week employee's health care? This would put an end to keeping workers part-time so they don't get benefits. Of course this would all be moot if we weren't so dumb as to tie health care to employment.
What really sucks is that we can't even do the research to find out if that's true or not.
Exactly, sweetheart deals are what got Apple into so much trouble in Ireland, the EU actually has rules against this kind of thing.
Doesn't help if you're renting
If there was no intent then it's just a beautiful (or in some other way stimulating) object, that's why I wouldn't call a sunset art.

Jack Kirby took that role when shown in the comics
It could have been exported into an Excel file from a more handy database format, I doubt this is just a straight copy of the master.
what happened to the constitutional guarantee of a trial? Why is that not an option?
alright then, let's spend the money fixing the problem

I guess I'm a product of GCC then
he meant free as gratis not libre

they were trying to remove bias, this just gives you knob to fiddle with the bias.
people don't complain about the data itself, it's usually the collection methods, how its interpreted, or its application that gets criticized
It has the capacity to hold more moisture, meaning it can also cause more evaporation.

The point was not that AA let him make it to that position, but that it made others more willing to accept him once he was elected.
I'd mod you up if I hadn't already commented. This game is definitely worth checking out if you like atmospheric adventure games

It seems to be there's a difference in the noun and verb. I might not have respect for someone, but I can still respect their wants and needs.
