    Yes, exactly. Add to that an ICE has many more moving parts than an electric motor, no oil changes, tune ups, filter changes, ring replacements, bearing changes, cam belt/chain tightening etc etc. The ICE is the modern equivalent of the steam engine. Old and outdated tech that needs replacing

    Just because your sysadmin is lost without Apple's GUI does not mean that Mac OS X encourages ignorance and obfuscation.

    True but nothing in your post directly refutes that and in fact MacOS DOES encourage ignorance. Even the slogan "Just works" is reflective of that mentality because you don't want your precious customers learning anything about the internals of *their* machine, right?

    Apart from that, Apple makes great hardware....for running Linux ;o)

    True, they're doing that well enough on their own. Vista has bad press because it is bloated and doesn't do *anything* better than XP or Linux and in fact does many things *worse*.

    Vista's memory usage is actually a good thing, because it uses it for precaching much used applications. Empty ram is no ram.

    It's hard to elucidate on how many levels that this statement is wrong. Guess you bought the FUD along with your mega-quantities of "no-RAM". I bet you think the bogus "UAC" and the constant access to HDD are good things as well.

    Lets hope that this will be the year of the Vista desktop as their first release wasn't ready for Grandma Mabel. That Linux cancer is taking over....

    I'm going to take issue with this. Basically you're saying if you can't do X, then your critique is useless.

    But mostly it is meaningless if you don't know something about what you're talking about. I cannot sing at a professional level but I have received some singing training, therefore my critique is more useful to the recipient. Likewise with software, I can code to a reasonable level but not well enough to write commercial software, so I DON'T ANNOY PEOPLE who write OSS with "critiques" like "this / that sucks", I would be more likely to offer helpful suggestions. What you pass of as "critique" would be, by definition, unhelpful criticism.
