    Yup, and AV 2009 is about the worst spyware there is. It installs a God damn driver just so that DNS queries to antivirus sites don't resolve, even though your hosts files stay clean.

    Up until about August this year, all carriers charged $0.10 per text message, now they all charge $0.20.

    This should scream price fixing.

    Hell, I'd settle for them just standardizing wired DC plugs so I don't have to pay $80 for a new one.

    Why not just make everything 12V (like it seems everything is now) and have each device with some kind of microchip that tells it what amperage to feed it? Then you could just buy a bunch of power plugs and use them for any of your gadgets.

    It's free because they don't charge a service fee for it, but they do charge you for a cable box.

    We have 5 TVs in my house, and Time Warner ends up being cheaper than U-Verse because 4 of them are analog and don't need a cable box. (U-Verse requires a box on every TV)

    Wasn't the FCC supposed to have made a law requiring TVs to be able to decode digital TV without having to pay for a cable box?

    Obviously people shouldn't buy old computers to avoid DRM; that's inefficient and unsustainable.

    The better option is to buy whatever computer you want and use open-source software.

As far as I can see, government officials and policies are going to change, just not the way that the people who voted for John McCain wanted, which occurred because either they were in the minority or they didn't vote (and if you didn't vote and were able, please STFU regarding your political opinions, thank you).

    The difference is that I have a choice of which private enterprises I do business with. Short of armed revolt or emigration I don't have that same choice when it comes to Government.

    I'm so glad I get to choose my airlines, wireless carrier, telephone company, cable company, and internet service provider. If they didn't have anyone to compete with, we'd all be screwed.

    I keep hearing grumblings that if Obama can't produce a valid birth certificate showing he is a natural born US citizen, John McCain might yet be president. Remember Obama isn't president yet, the electoral college hasn't voted him in yet!

    Yeah, I'm sure that would go over really well if Obama was declared ineligible.

    In the US, you can change government officials and policy.

    Tell that to all the people who voted for John McCain. Remember that Democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding what to have for dinner.... not a bad deal if you are one of the wolves but kind of a tough break if you happen to be the sheep.

    Most people who voted for McCain did so because they didn't want Barack Obama to be president, not because they wanted McCain to be president.

    We have some LCDs in our test cells with burn in. LCDs aren't immune either. And these aren't some no name brands, these are Dell, relatively new LCDs. Now sometimes the data on the screen doesn't change for a few days, but that's no excuse for burn in.

    I've also observed LCD burn in on Dell monitors in a computer lab. They had the legal notice burned into it that is displayed before you log on.

    I've heard the burn-in can be fixed though.

    Almost all 17" LCDs are 1280x1024 which is 5:4. Anyone know why they use this and not 1280x960 (4:3)?
