    Not necessarily. I had a friend lose his job and when he looked at getting his old job at the supermarket back, he didn't take it because unemployment paid more.

    Ok but AV2009 slows down your computer and makes it crash. Why do that? Why not do nothing and have unsuspecting users keep sending you money?

    I always wondered why malware authors made it so obvious you were being scammed. Why not just have a program "scan" your hard drive for viruses for a few minutes, find a bunch of stuff, and then charge you a fee to remove said "viruses?"

    Not so different from places using salt instead of gravel to melt snow so that auto body shops generate more revenue.

    Also, I swear, the traffic lights in my city are intentionally timed so you have to stop at every one of them. Wouldn't surprise me if the oil companies had a hand in that.

    They released technologies that gave people too many options.

    Seriously. Instead of cancel/allow, they should just have had cancel.

    IIRC, the Broadcom drivers in Linux are based on Intel's. Only the firmware is proprietary.

    That saddens me. Flash video is very slow, gives me very high CPU usage, and doesn't support overlay.

    As usual, the product with the most bling (flashiest, if you will) beats the one with the best functionality.

    It can, but it doesn't always do that. Sometimes it makes it worse by adding more fluff, like the flashy touchscreens and "holograms" on CNN.

    His mistake was answering "No" to the question "Would you ever steal data (private pictures, bank statements, etc.) from a customer?"

    When I applied for a job at Circuit City, the test must have asked me 10 times if I had ever stolen from a previous employer.

    Even if I had, do they really think I'd have said yes?

    Well, Vista isn't that horrible, it's just that it's a little slower, and doesn't do anything worthwhile that can't be done in XP, so why spend time and money upgrading?

    Software should come with 2 or 3 different modes: a default one that holds your hand and asks you if you're sure you're doing what you really want, and a power mode that, when enabled (and allowed by your administrator), just lets you do whatever you want.

    Let me suggest calling the button to enable the second mode "fuck off."

    I always thought that the people who got to add urls to the kiddie / work filters would have an interesting job.

    It's been said before. There are things you just can't un-see. How much would you pay someone to surf the nastiest content on the net? Would you really hire people who enjoy it?

    Personally I'm probably going to look into teaching, did a bit during my studies and it was quite fun and rewarding.

    Yeah, I'm considering it too. Coding for school is one thing, but I never imagined sitting in a cubicle for 8+ hours a day doing the same thing every day could be boring.
