    Paint Shop Pro was 2MB in size, it would take a few seconds to download at today's speeds. Not everything has to be as bloated as Photoshop or Visual Studio.

    Spinelessly caving in to secret threats from a fascist individual amounts to playing with your constitutional rights and deserves to be derided. People would not have been hard at all on Amazon if they were responding to a formal legal notice from government, based on a properly adjudicated case.

    Whether there is or not a US company that can take on the US government is irrelevant to the result. Any company that does what Amazon did must be and will be hauled up by the people.

    Arguments such as yours only serve to undermine the very fabric of democracy and fly against the critical concept of independence of legislature, judiciary and executive that is so fundamental to effective democracy.

    You seem to talk as if material cost is the only one to consider. Do you have any idea what the breakup of the total cost of a feature is - material, labor, testing, maintenance?

    Yes, who actually types in a URL anymore in the address bar? Google and other search engines are our DNS for all practical purposes. Google has open DNS servers too - so how long before they some sort of dynamic DNS service from them becomes the de-facto DNS for internet?

    How about the broken lirc/IR ecosystem? Stock hauppauge IR controls stopped working because the 10.10 userland did not jive well with a premature backport to the kernel version used.
