I want to be able to connect diagnostic equipment to my car so that I know what's going on. I don't trust a mechanic to tell me what's wrong and how much it will cost. I like being able to do most of the work myself when possible.
I work for a trucking company and the Qualcomm units that we use for driver messaging do not allow the driver to interact with the unit while it's moving. It's been that way for quite some time.
I think its hypocritical of you to not like Flash because its closed, but support Apple's development decisions
Why? If the iPhone remains closed for eternity, that will have absolutely no effect on me. My concern is for an open web. That's it. If Apple wants to lock up their platform like a drum, hey, that's their business.
Couldn't the same be said of Flash as well? If Adobe wants to lock up their platform like a drum, hey, that's their business.
Nobody is forcing you to use flash and nobody is forced to use Apple.
How do you propose that the Federal Government should pay for this? The "buy-in" that you speak of does nothing to cover the cost of covering the individual.
I guess we could just raise taxes even more. After all, Obama will be signing the largest tax increase in U.S. history this week.
After all, it *is* my information that they're selling - correct? Why do we allow companies to profit from our information? I should be paid a royalty for my information regardless of how they acquired it.
First there are plenty of USB-serial converters, so the lack of old-school DB9 serial ports on laptops is entirely a non-issue..
While this is true, I have yet to find a USB-serial converter that passes the Esc key command. This is an extremely important feature, especially if you ever need to break into a switch or router to recover an account password.
Why 1: netbook has actual keyboard 2: netbook is a actual pc Ie it runs windows or linux 3: netbook can multi task 4: nebook can be had for as cheep as 200$ 5: netbook can close to protect screen.
I can keep going but sorry netbook is a real system, the ipad is just a oversized iphone.
That is true, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the website is also hosted at NetSol. There are plenty of people who (are stupid enough to) use NetSol as a domain registrar, paying their ridiculous fees and then host the site on another provider.
Unfortunately, the science has been done, by climatologists. However, they said a bunch of stuff that some of us didn't want to hear, which by definition makes it controversial, so we pretend that the science is still murky. Throwing out Gore's movie or the entire IPCC doesn't change the bare fact that about 97 out of a hundred climatologists will tell you that humans are exacerbating global warming.
You're missing the fact that a vast majority of the climatologists used the corrupt data from IPCC. The IPCC wasn't just some small, rogue facility. the IPCC was THE premier center for climate research. Their data was used by practically all climatologists at some point.
I found this while previewing the book on Amazon's website: "Suppose you want to do a Google search, so you dutifully type http://www.google.com in the address bar"..."Your web browser sends a request for the index.html file located at the http://www.google.com/ address"
While it's not the end of the world, it certainly is an error that will misguide a beginner on how traffic is exchanged between a browsing client and the web server. The web browser does not assume index.html. That is the job of the web server to assign a default document whether its index.html, default.htm, index.php, or yourmama.html.
I don't think you understand how a library operates. The books don't just appear out of thin air and Librarians don't volunteer their time. It all costs money. In this case, taxpayer money.
That any Republican or so-called conservative can complain about a Democratic deficit with a straight face is beyond me, when our party has not produced a single balanced budget in 40 years and ushered in the mega-deficits under Reagan.
Republicans fail when it comes to budget cutting.
You must be forgetting about the GOP Congress in the 90s that had some balanced budgets.
People act as if this were something new. The long distance carriers have been using VoIP technology since the mid 90s. Almost all LD calls over the last 5-8 years use IP at some point. However, I'm pretty confident that POTS will outlive me and I'm 31.
We live in a republic, not a (sort of) democracy.

Wind energy is much more expensive than gas, coal or nuclear power.
...it's that any and all natural disasters can be stopped by the liberal use of nuclear weapons.
Except the oil leak isn't a natural disaster.
We get a small percentage of our electrical power from oil so why is everyone comparing wind to oil production?
Here in .au I have 2Mbps/0.5Mbps. And that is a great speed considering I'm 6.1km from the exchange.
It doesn't matter how far away you are from the exchange. It matters how far away the DSLAM is.

Here's a fact: The Medicare budget is getting slashed by hundreds of billions of dollars with this new bill.
Medicare part D has nothing on this new monstrosity.

6. It will run Flash.
Maybe you haven't looked at their site lately (I wouldn't blame you); NetSol has been providing hosting for years: http://www.networksolutions.com/web-hosting/index.jsp

"Why should I make the data available to you, when your aim is to find something wrong with it?"
That used to be what Science was. Of course, that was when truth was the goal.
Just send every single tax filing both ways. The right one gets filed, and wrong one gets rejected. Twice the work for the government.
I'm not sure why you would want to send your tax papers to the US Patent Office.

Lawyers run the DOJ. Lawyers run Congress. Of course they want to be able to sue for large amounts.
Off topic perhaps, but this is why we won't see meaningful tort reform in the near future.

RIM (the company that runs the BB services) is a Canadian company that operates globally. So the original post is correct in saying North America.
I received emails all night long on BES. My wife's BB on BIS is also working fine.
The last outage didn't affect me either.
Just because its a fairly common practice doesn't mean that it's the correct thing to do. It's dishonest.
