EU Web Tax Proposed

A better solution would be to get rid of all the tolls and instead get the money they usually get from tolls in an increased gas tax. If your vehicle is a heavy one that destroys more roads than a lighter vehicle, then you should have to pay more to repair the damage. Tolling a specific road is just ridiculous, IMO.
Be especially cautious about using the "mega-vendor" TigerDirect. They've basically stolen $911 from me. "The check is in the mail," yeah right.. Their next call will be from my lawyer.
I'd recommend using the smaller hardware vendors (like Telenet) instead. Just fire up pricewatch.com and see what you can find.
But these are all features designed to improve searching, so I don't see what the problem is. It's not like they are making "Google Games" or "MyGoogleMail" -- they are just making enhancements to searching.
Actually this might not be a bad idea, as long as it is optional. How often have you searched for a legitimate topic and ended up with a bunch of porn sites instead?
Say for example your daughter wants to search for "cheerleading" but doesn't want to look at porn sites.. a "no porn" option would be great!
After all, it's free software, so what's the harm in popping up a nag screen when the user starts his mail client to remind him of important free software projects?
Look at the article here to see him completely ignore apache, the kernel, fetchmail, KDE/Gnome and all the other great open source projects that make the internet possible and livable in.
Since when is 'fetchmail' on the same level as the kernel, KDE, Apache, or Gnome??? Get real. What do people even use fetchmail for anyway? All email clients have pop3 retrieval built into them.
Yeah, I was also wondering about the lack of credit to the people who asked questions. Is this yet another sign of slashdot's decay into a corporate entity?
Well, this post is probably a troll, but I'll reply anyway.
There is a finite amount of resources on this planet. If we don't kill ourselves off with pollution first, we will eventually run out of space. This is a simple fact.
Also, most people would like to preserve some wilderness. Whether it be for recreation, aesthetic reasons, ethical reasons, or all of the above... It is hard to preserve natural areas on an overcrowded planet.
In addition, you say "more goods and services" are a good thing, however if this were true rich people would be the happiest people, and I don't find this to be true.
Well, if you ask me to go where the money is would be to release the driver code source. I intentionally decided NOT to get an Nvidia video card when I ordered my computer last week. Why? Simply because the linux support was so poor. Either companies wake up and release their source or they lose business. At least from me.
You're right! They're working with Red China and the Illumnati to overthrow the world with their deadly message of peace!!!! Communist bastards! Let's call in a few army tanks and show these pinko hippies who's boss!
Actually I thought they were number 1 in computers sold. Apple is the only one who can make Macintosh computers, but anyone can make PC clones. This means apple has to make a LOT of computers.
In the past, you could just turn the radio to another station if the one you were listening to had too many ads. But now of course since every station is owned by a nationwide corporation (such as Clear Channel) you get the same 15 minutes ads / 5 minutes content on EVERY station.
However, I do not think the web will ever be like that. Why? Simply because how cheap it is to create and maintain a web site. On the airwaves there is only a limited space available (87.5 to 108.0 I think), but on the internet there is unlimited space. For example, if slashdot starts putting up 5 ads on a page I can just stop visiting it and go to a similar site like Kuro5hin to get my news. The web offers the user a vast amount of choice, and I don't see how any corporation can prevent it.
Why the government would even consider using software w/o the source code is beyond my understanding. Who knows what kind of shit microsoft could put in Windows to get back at the govt for the anti-trust trial.
Speak for yourself. I sure don't consider a bunch of freeloaders leeching off the cable co's network to be a good thing. I like my cable modem fast and I'd prefer to keep it that way. Competition with DSL keeps the prices down. I realize this violates the Slashdot 'party line' and am prepared to be moderated down.

Yow that first picture is nasty. I don't need to see the back of some guy's greasy head.

Other registrars have similar forms.
Let's hope the sun doesn't core dump.
Ever heard of civil disobedience?
'screen' does this. It's really annoying.

Will they be collecting my personal information without my knowledge again?
The same was true for linux not too long ago.
(sarcasm)
You obviously haven't seen a dikumud :)
There aren't any good mudlibs available. They are all bugridden messes or medieval-only. Be prepared to create your mud from scratch :)

Your post doesn't make any sense. Put away the crackpipe before you go on the internet please!

Fair use allows quotes and small excerpts but it does NOT allow complete duplication of a work, which seems to be what is going on here.
me-me-me sounds more like a conservative ideology than a liberal one.
