Anyone who doesn't get those terms also doesn't care about Tomcat. You can consider it the knowledge equivalent of the "you must be this tall" signs at amusement parks.
It's also fairly simple (in a relative way) and worthwhile to support Macs, because there are limited hardware combinations and everything can be effectively tested, plus Apple customers spend money freely. Windows people are the big money overall, so it's worth supporting that platform. Linux people, on the other hand, have a reputation for cobbling any old thing together and being allergic to paying for anything, so they just aren't worth the effort.
It's misdirection, masked in "clever" wordplay. The "free as in speech" leads directly to "free as in beer" because in general people don't pay for things they can just take. RMS just knows he'd have a harder time selling his ideals if he were totally honest. See also his misdirection re:the term intellectual property, which his believers actually see as him exposing misdirection! It's sort of amusing from the outside perspective.
Just out of curiosity, do you see anything wrong with workers openly using a labor crunch to negotiate better terms, or is it only evil when business people do it?
The funny thing about ignorance is by definition you just don't know, but don't let your personal lack of societal integration prevent you from being a douchebag on a public forum.
And I see now it's your opinion that they matched movie graphics (no, they didn't, not even what was out at the time, and that's objective) and that you're trolling. I was suckered by a shithead, dammit.
You may not care about better graphics than the PS2 produced, but that's not the promise Sony made about the capabilities, incorrect Insightful mods notwithstanding. Your opinions don't change the fact that Sony lies.
No, I'm assuming that meeting the 80% case is more important than satisfying the tweakers. Feel free to insult me to make your case, though. I'm merely describing reality to you.
Shh, don't bring "facts" and "logic" into this discussion. This is about "hackers" and "homebrew" and "standing up to the man" and "backups" by enabling free entertainment, the most important cause of all.
That used to be true. These days, we have enough spare power in the machine that it's not necessary for everyone to work at every level.
I'm not going to try to change your mind, though. I'm just letting you know you have an opinion with which reality disagrees, which means you're just a curmudgeon.
You're trying to figure out the mindset of people who believe they are entitled to free entertainment using logic, which is a mistake. What you need to do is ask yourself "how would a 13 year old think?"
The only other option is to capitulate. It's not the fault of the people defending themselves that criminals decide to attack more viciously. The moral responsibility still lies with the pirates not to be criminals in the first place.
The US just has to let some Europeans run the country for a while. Clearly everything everywhere in Europe is perfect, and we poor Americans are craving their superior leadership. After all, it's obvious from reading Slashdot that they know everything.
Since you can jailbreak easily, your argument is only valid in a fantasy land where your conditions are actually true.
It's called human nature - unless you think there is some sort of human organization where there aren't people in charge.

Considering the size of the non-Windows gaming market, not being cross-platform isn't really a handicap.

It's not rocket surgery to see the reasoning.

Just so you know, declaring yourself the winner didn't make it so.

You Apple bashers should just stick to gay jokes. Your new material sucks.
Inexperienced or stupid people can make mistakes doing anything. That's not a reason to prevent experienced people from doing it correctly.

As a lesbian grandmother who codes in assembly language, I think I love you.

Ironic, considering tears make the best lube.

Wow, there are a lot of responses to this from people who have no clue what they're talking about at all. Thanks, guys, that was amusing to read.
Well not with that attitude

Here, I'll fill it in a little more.
So what? We don't really care about being like you.
Congrats, I guess. Did that masturbatory post feel good?
That's what I saw. I put it down to knowing what effect they were trying to produce.
