Yeah, I know, I get that. It's still just padding out the entertainment collection through piracy. Only watching/listening/playing/whatever once doesn't change the basic fact. I just wonder what the point of bothering to justify it as something more is. Is it for recruitment of new infringers? To calm lingering guilt? Perhaps a humble method of bragging? I'm genuinely curious.
Considering the tendency to be extremely picky about the naming of things, you'd think those who subscribe to feminism would realize that the very word conjures up the image of empowering women to run everything. Something a little more inclusive-sounding might be in order to maintain that "all genders" image, no?
Not that I actually care. I laugh at the essential ironies of feminists. I find humor in anyone who takes themselves so seriously.
Look, I know to a certain kind of mind, just putting "Ballmer" and "chair" in the same post is a riotous affair but really, you've got to try a lot harder than that.
Why bother justifying the piracy with the story? Obviously you feel just fine doing it for the sake of growing your collection of entertainment. What's the point of making it seem like it actually has some noble purpose?
And the jobs never did come back to America- it took 7 years for the number of jobs to be EQUAL to that before the crash, and during that time we imported just about as many workers as we gained jobs.
Most of those jobs didn't leave the country, exactly - they vanished because they were never real in the first place. You can only continue employment on speculative investment for so long. Like right up until the bubble bursts.
Yeah, I can read. Is there any practical point to it? If I have a store that I never open, I'm also choosing not to ignore sales. So? What happens next? What rights does that confer upon someone who wants to be my customer?
Notice that mangu's self-serving (Slashdot prejudice serving?) summarization of the link currently sits at +5, while you have naught but your karma bonus modifier. Masturbation at it's finest. The Slashdot community hears what it wants to hear, much like a 4 year old.
OMG they only have 29 billion dollars on hand? You've convinced me. I don't know why they just don't call a press conference to admit it, then burn down all their buildings like a viking funeral.
You know what - fuck you, buddy. Don't tell me how informed I am by reading three sentences tossed off in the middle of the night. I'm well versed in this issue, and more importantly, I realize that this topic, like Microsoft related posts, is how a significant chunk of Slashdot users masturbate mentally.
I masturbate mentally by pointing out the masturbation. It's very meta.
You believe that your own personal preferences deserve to be honored without exception, and as such that justifies piracy? Interesting point. I'm not certain how it translates into anything more than "my greed deserves to be satisfied more than theirs" but this isn't really a contest about honor or ethics, is it? This is about people wanting to fill their hard drives with entertainment.
There hasn't been a coherent argument made about copyright on Slashdot ever. It boils down to greed on both sides, and people screaming why their greed is more important to satisfy. It's like a cosmic joke, only it's too stupid to be cosmic.
Take the 'I' out of your perspective and think in terms of general population, who do not want total control over their devices and would actually like a bit of "mind-reading." Maybe then the potential future uses would be clearer.
Or maybe not - you're on Slashdot, so you may have the fairly typical "I hate any interface newer than 1970" thing that happens around here.
You mean it's a fad like pretty much everything the human race has used for entertainment since the dawn of time? Or perhaps you're foolish enough to believe something like, say, Slashdot has some higher, more meaningful purpose.
Dismissing it as peer pressure makes about as much sense as abstinence education for teens. It simplifies a very complex phenomenon to the point of uselessness.
Everyone keeps trying to "solve" the "problem" of ways to use software without agreeing to the terms. What happened to the simple expedient of using some alternative software? I know the Slashdot users feel entitled to do whatever they want with other people's work, but that's such a poor justification from so many perspectives. Can anyone solve this quandary for me without expressing it in terms of their own greed?
You're definitely understating the capabilities of a hell of a lot of shooters I've played recently. That's cool and all, opinions are opinions, but I haven't seen enemies simply stand still or rush outside of Fallout 3 (which isn't really a shooter) in years. Like 10+ years.
On a semi-related note, the monstrous amount of typos you've introduced and your unwillingness to sign in undercut the validity of your point. I try to worry about the message rather than the delivery, but really you oughta work on that.
You are of course aware that historical achievements mean exactly nothing, right? The world works on the "you're only as good as your last envelope" model.

I wonder how long we'll have to wait before the legions of lazy rise to claim that which they refuse to work to obtain.

I hope you honestly believe that. I would love to think you're that retarded.

noone doesn't get them either

Awww, the poor little rails fan is gonna get violent on the internet. Good way to make a point, hotshot.
Demands? Facebook requires you to update? You must be using a different site than the one I know.

I have to wonder, after reading how many things you think are not found in any other shooter - have you not played any since Doom?
He was kinda bragging about not being into Facebook at the same time. There are many levels of vanity in that post.
Yes, you're the only one. I'm going to contact the major media outlets because yours is a unique story that must be told.
Sadly, since you don't care about TV, you'll never get to watch it.
Was that some sort of attempt at meta-racism?
