You realize, of course, that you all you've done is express snark without addressing what you quoted.

What you probably don't realize is that the propensity to work hard and the ability to make good decisions also pretty much come down to luck. So what? Some people are winners. Getting pissy about that fact just makes you bitter.

I would like to introduce you to the concept of "idioms." Apparently while you were mastering the English language through your courses on spelling and grammar, you missed the part where we can have phrases that don't mean what the literal definition says.

It's the socialist society that can't survive without eliminating choice.

You don't need to eliminate choice, you just need to eliminate people who would choose differently. Then socialism works beautifully.

That's not the point at all, and I suspect you know that. Arguing about the details of a metaphorical example is a good sign you don't actually have an argument.

The real point was: you can ignore people on the phone just as easily as you can ignore anybody else talking. The fact that you'd rather bitch about it like a baby doesn't make you a righteous martyr. It just makes you a bitch.

The case hasn't generated as many headlines as it should.

Yeah, people in general don't care. This is a trivial detail to the world at large. The freedom to use and modify software is simply meaningless to all but a vanishingly small percentage of humans. Thus the reason that Open Source, Free Software, whatever, while indeed meritorious for its ideals, will never gain widespread acceptance based on them.

Guess what - that is the market. No one is promising that you're going to get everything you want at the price you want to pay. No one ever did promise that. I know this is a shock to you, but the main reason people bother making the investments to make all these services work for you is the hope for profit. Trying to take away that incentive in favor of some imaginary right to free technology isn't actually going to make anything happen.
