    If you unclick it first (or use the fn key should you have it) then it works just fine. I've been doing it for years with no problems. A few keystrokes and I'm on my way.

    Or maybe we actually like widescreen better, and you few clinging to the narrower aspect are the weird ones. I find that more likely, since it's not too often that companies dictate what to buy to their customers.

    Yeah, that "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor" is a fairly tricky checkbox. You have to click it just right.

    Aside from the fact that the whole premise of the parent comment is basically incorrect (unlocking is simple as pie,) the only insight it provides is into one person's specific (and unusual, marketwise) needs.

    Since the configuration GUIs are either pre-installed or come on the disc with the hardware, you are only partially correct.

    That's an awful lot of work for a negligible effect. I thought I had a hard time deciding what toothpaste to buy - with your system I'd need to have a list of verboten brands with me to even start to figure it out.
