  1. How do you Know and REMOVE them? on Is the Botnet Battle Already Lost? · · Score: 2, Interesting

I have a lovely wife who surfs the internet constantly. She has a bot on her Windows Box. I noticed it when we sent out 86 thousand emails in one day. (it helps to monitor your port 25!!). Okay.. so she is compromised.

Norton, Spybot, etc CANNOT detect what she has. Netstat shows the connection but taskmanager etc does not. I block port 25 from her computer as a precaution and the darn computer starts searching for smtp servers on the local network. I use qmail-auth and it prevents it.. however I have no trust that it cant use UPnP or something else to change my main router.

So.. HOW IN THE HECK do you REMOVE stuff that you cant find? I really.. REALLY.. dont want to reformat and reinstall because there is no way this should be hidden to adminstrator on Windows XP.. but it IS!

Yep.. but the combination spells were generally too small of duration.. and had to cast them a ton. I finished the game but my biggest challenge was encumberance. I created 4 feather spells besides the ones in the game and would cast them all just to haul some EQ around.

One click and all plus a water breathing plus extra armor.. fire resistance.. etc would be nice!

in an RPG, you have spells that you wear constantly. Dungeon Siege, Pool of Radiance, etc.. and there are spells you cast on your party members constantly. These spells should all be MAINTAINABLE!

Best MUD I played was one where you could add a spell that you wish to maintain and then on occasion hit "spellup" and it would spell you up, ignoring the spell if you already had it active. Oh wait I created that one... and then beefup to spellup others.

Please make games do this.. it would make the game easier to manage and less drudgery. Its hard for me to play without that spellup command. Even just the simple 3-4 spells in Oblivion you had to constantly cast.. and its ANNOYING!!

    Rob,

I have seen you on Battle.net before and it was fun to meet you. What I have found that in running an online game for many years is that people love there names. Names are important as it is how people address you and it is perfectly normal to feel as you do.

One of the rules we have is that names cannot be profane or Mock another player. I use the name "Winston" as my handle and you will find people logging in with "WinstonSucks" or other names. Its rather funny but its pretty much clear they want to be denied. I find those easy to deal with. Its the ones with strange names like Pwned or other things. I tend to let them as it also shows level of maturity.

I have chosen to modify my name at times online. Since my online game is "The Mage's Lair" and we have had several clans in outside games.. I am known a lot as TML_Winston. It makes it more specific.

CmdrTaco is a valid name and I feel for you. I would think that you could use your celebrity to win this battle. Contact Blizzard as a representative of Slashdot.. I am sure many of the GM's may know who you are.

If you change your name try: TheCmdrTaco or Slashdot_Taco.

Its fine and dandy that people want to remove control from the US because they are fearful of what the US does overseas.. but that does not diminish or make the fact irrelevant that without the US there would be no internet today.

If IBM sold its services division it would get billions of dollars. If the US were to get compensated for the Service of the Internet.. it would be in the billions as well.

You make some good points.. but my question has to do with cash..

The US spent billions on developing the internet and infrastructure. Companies are living off of it right now.

Should not the US be compensated for the cost if they are to lose control? If we take the business model then we are talking a buyout and X amount of cash would have to be forked over.

Okay now to general statements you dont need to read unless you want to :)

I frankly dont care who runs the internet as long as its FREE and not blocked. right now, in general, thats the case. The EU has been trying as well as the AU to censor certain sites. Finland rounds up websites, US rounds up websites, etc.. all around. The Internet changing hands would mean a larger amount of chaos for a bit.

The war in Iraq has the US stating they went in for UN reasons but we know its to remove Saddam because he tried to assasinate George Bush Sr. A US Citizen may reject that.. but heck.. is that not good enough reason? Taking out your leaders has started WW1 and many other wars. The problem is the US trying to cloak its actions under War of Terror.. which is Justified in Afghanistan and other places (Somalia, Georgia, and Maybe Syria/Iran).

Show me a country without a history of some sort of issue and I will sell you some ocean front property in Arizona.. there is not any.

So.. end of all.. the US paid for the Internet, developed it.. If one body should continue to run it.. why not the US? If no one can be trusted, Pay the US off and make it distributed.

Religion is the belief in some cause that cannot be proved beyond a shadow of a doubt. The Athiesm is belief that there is no god. This cannot be proved either yes or no. A God cannot be proved either yes or no. Both are causes that cannot be proved.

Agnostic is DOUBT not certainty. You cannot be a true athiest if you have doubt that there is a god. Thats the purpose here.

Your statement "Faith has no place in science" completly misses how many including Stephen Hawkins have stated that you must have Faith. Its very simple to assume that Science and Faith are seperate but they are based in the end on assumptions.. Math is design to describe what we see but it is still an Assumption. To say otherwise is to CLOSE your mind to possibilities.

I think that evolution is how we came to be. I think that the methodology is NOT fully understood and thus people can ask questions. I also think that I know WHY I am here. That is answered not by Science but by Faith.

Its amazing that you say you are not following Reference.com definition of religion (#4) when you are talking and defending the belief you have.. which by the definition means you are in a religion. The zeal in which you answer your questions and the thought process in which you obviously think about define it as such.

Btw, I have never espoused a Religion as defined by what man has stated here. If you wish to try and define me.. thats fine but I will say I believe in a God, and I believe that Faith is how we live either by Science, Religion, or just expectations. For what are expectations but faith engrained.

Religion is the belief in something that is inherently based on Faith. Regardless of what reference.com or anything may say.

You have to have Faith to believe that there is NO GOD. That is a leap just as having faith that there is a God. We are creatures of Faith and we use it everyday.

When you get up in the morning you have faith the sun is still in the sky. Science is a form of faith based on observable instances.. but it all comes down to theory and assumptions. Math is based on a point that is assumed to exist.

To answer your question based on your reference.com: #4: Athiesm is a Religion based on a cause, principle, AND activity pursered with zeal or consecientious devotion.

Agnostic is the uncertainity that there may or may not be a God. That is where a lot of people live.
