Have a TREE in your yard? What about multiple Trees? Oh.. Have a fence around the yard? A Shed? A House Next Door?
If you do.. you know.. that you have HD Must Not SEE TV. Its amazing how this works. HD TV is supposed to have better reception than normal since its more "robust".
Sorry am still laughing at that. I got duped into thinking that since I got fuzzy connection on analog but could still make out the figures etc that HD would be available to me..
And then after getting a decent reciever.. to constantly get told its your antennea... and then buying the super duper model after looking on the internet..
and having antennaweb tell me I should be getting great reception.. I realized something...
Laws are in two parts: Spirit and Word. The longer and farther from the enactment of the law the further the spirit gets distorted and used. The only thing left is the Word.
This law, while not intended (read spirit) to go after something like Ebay, will go after ebay one day. The wording of the law will be used by someone who does not understand the spirit and then use it. Spirit of the Law is no defense because now you have words.. on PAPER that say you can't do this.
No matter what you may think the spirit of the law is, the wording will push this on people.
Do you really think the Patriot Act was made to go after Strip Bar owners in Nevada? No it was to go after Terrorists.. but guess what?.. yep you got it.. People ignore spirit of the law all the time.
Where is the Loss? Help me understand?

Can TiVo be Saved?
·
· Score: 1
I have direct TV and I have a TiVO in it. It provides 2 inputs and is very good.
The reason standalone TiVOs wont work is due to the multiple feed of a specific type. In order to get HD you have to have HD recievers.. etc.
The dual input is rocking.. I want a QUAD INPUT!!!!
and why is Direct TV not wanting to renew a profitable deal with TiVO? Sounds like TiVO is shooting themselves there.
A kid purchases a Game at a store like Gamestop. Prove that. Okay.. lets say they do prove that. It was purchased as an M rated game. It already stated not for minors. Thus Take-Two is out of the lawsuit.
Now Gamestop may have not carded the kid or not.. If they did, then Gamestop and everyone is out of the loop as the kid committed a crime to get the game by fraud. If they did not then Gamestop should be fined or something from the ESRB because they broke the rules underwhich the people are selling the games.
ESRB ratings have to have teeth otherwise the government will make the teeth.
In the end it comes down to: Was Gamestop responsible for selling material to minors when it was not for minors? And if so, are ESRB enforceable under a lawsuit?
Religious questions are part of what makes humans, human. Every story delves into Religious questions.. Not to mention RIP off stories of the Bible and other religious doctrine (May I mention Matrix-Jesus parallels).
Here goes the explination for those who do not understand the purpose of the aspect of religion in BSG.
Years.. and Thousands of them ago.. Humans had a really plethora (weee) of gods. These gods were everywhere from gods of suns to gods of a single blade of grass. This was the system that existed for millenia.
Enter the Jewish tradition (mainly) which was the transition to One god above all others. A single god who rules all and is omnipotent.
The struggle between the NEW (one god) and the old (Multiple Gods) took place over hundreds of years.
We are the Cylons. We are that which was born from the previous. We are the worshippers of One diety.
I am willing to expect that there will be different sects in the Cylons comming up. You will see pacifist Cylons, and different types of interpretation Cylons.

After that.. lets talk about Religion in SciFi. All SciFi is a good story with some sort of Scienctific possibility placed into it. Bablyon 5 was a great series and they dealt with MANY religions including Christianity.
I remember when they greeted all the religions in one episode. It was impressive. Of course.. the entire series was based on The worship of the one, which was the Trinity in the end: Sherridan, Dylan, and the original B5 captain.
To ignore religious questions is to never ask WHY? why am I here? Why do I exist?
One day.. maybe Science will explain everything in this Universe. One day we may see that every question in the universe is answered.. except.
Why do I exist?
Thus.. Religion and the answers that come with it. Jesus, Mohammad, Zoarastrian, etc all answered these in what they wrote and did. Its part of how we grow.
I choose to try and follow Jesus' teachings because that is what I belive the WHY of my life is here.
Now.. I just gave you explanations and things to think about. No conversions tried, no pleading for you to believe in anything. If you are offended by what I have said. Tough. I feel more sorry for you because you have closed your mind to simple discussion.
Right now I cant trust firefox to do the things I need it to do. Just last night I was trying to get a replacement TiVo remote because I am evil to mine.. and I am using Firefox. I get to the checkout screen of the Shopping Cart and it says "Press the Checkout button" and there is NO checkout button. I played with it a while.. until I brought up IE and went throught he same proce4ss and Lwo and behold a Checkout button.
This is not the first.. not the second.. nor the third time it has happened to me. Mozilla seems to work better yet they are the same ?? engine??. I dunno..
Do what I and other people who have been caught up in a Make money job. Do it on the side for fun. I have been involved in the Gaming community for quite some time enhancing, patching, running, Muds. It is a lot more fullfilling than work, and I can do it off and on with only myself to push me.
Of course, I work with 2 other active programmers now. I could use more:)
What I did when the mortals whined too much about the changes I made and complained when I took out PK counters (which absolutly killed RP).. was to release the codebase. What you find is that many of them take the code, find out how hard it is, and shutup. Others take the code modify it and then try to steal my players and end up failing.
I encourage anyone making a new mud and provide technical support and even game playing advice but new admins (and I did this) do not seem to follow the advice. They want to give everything to everyone. Anyone logging in tends to get instant immortalship, etc. Its a vicious cycle.
I like the help fsi in game.. thats a decent Idea. We currently have those ideas shot down in our forum.
Get the codebase (sacred) and take the worklist functionality. When we coded that, it made assigning takes and maintaining buglists, help problems, typo lists, build features so much easier.. in game.
The article is full of interesting issues and correctly points to the problem of bad design.
The real issue is Implementors and how they react to the inevitable whining by the players. No matter what you do, players will complain about something.
Here are the reactions from implementors: 1. Ignore the Whining 2. Attack the whining player back 3. Carefully consider the players complain and act or 4. Ignore everyone and do it your own way.
I mention these because A combination of 3 and 4 are the most effective way of creating and maintaining a game.
Now lets delve into the truth of reality.. and fantasy. No matter how great your graphics are they cannot compare to the ability of the mind(imagination). Text based games are much more "graphical" than any true graphical game due to the amazing brain. It will take many decades before graphics can come even close to matching the brain in processing.
What does this mean overall? It means that you should find a Good text based game with Implementors willing to listen and come up with original ideas.
I recommend The Mage's Lair at www.mageslair.net port 7060 as it has been around many years.. and yes.. like the article said it does not lead to many muds as people tend to stay around.
I have no idea why they modded this Funny. This is exactly how Bush is treating this case. Oh, lets just educate the people. Well I have a degree and after University education in various items. I do not care, want, or SHOULD have to go back to school to train myself for what? To be passing out fries?
As much as people would like it.. THIS IS NOT FUNNY.
yes I still have a good job. I try and help others before the same jackboots come and "help" me find a new job.
I find that... instead of driving the Child Pornographers underground again... knowing that they are active on the p2p network means we now have a "light of day" thing revealing them.
We can then track them down and smash thier operations Or we can remove the p2p software and drive them underground again and under the sight of Law Enforcement again.
Then again I am a programmer and I believe that the more eyes the more bugs are found.. thus I also believe the more something is public the more the bad guys can get caught.
Hacking and geting a setuid bash is easy. Ahh the stories we can tell from our days.. keystroke loggers, replacing ls, intercepting Chats.. making GIF do what we need.
Darnit, got me all misty eyed.
The real trick was that one student hacked the system and his reward? He got to become System Administrator.
Universities encourage exploration. Thats the great thing.
And someone who believes there is no Intelligent Design and yet cannot prove there is no Intellegent Design... speakeths..
Me, Science is Science, Religion is Religion one tells you HOW the other tells you WHY.
Get over it people, its all Shadows. and whatever you do.. stop quote the religion of Atheism. Its bad enough..
Fix a bug and then fix the comments..
Lots of Comments are a big hassle.. I am willing to say around 20% Maximum of your code should be extra comments.. the rest better be in the code.
Maintaining comments is just as bad as code.
Have a TREE in your yard?

Oh.. Have a fence around the yard?
A Shed?

DirectTV aint so bad looking after all...
Wow thats strange. I shall not listen to Talk Radio.. I shall not listen to Talk Radio.
Whats really funny is that Bush already HAS Line Item Veto as did Clinton.
No President has used it since it was passed.

but if I told you my security, that would show you more than I want. Wait I have to kill you now.
Stop posting forcasts of incredibly low pay figures. Only put rosey forecasts out so my boss will give me a better raise.
Why do you think the raises get low? They read the pessimistic journals.
Blah.
If Slashdot would render in Firefox as correct as it does in Internut Exploder then I would not have to use it.
Think about it.. Slashdot: Pillar of Linux support and Firefox does not even render its front page without overwritting things.
I had a ton of Porn tapes on Beta, Came on Beta, Used Beta, and basically the Beta tapes are still good.
Then I recorded them to VHS because I could put a whole lot more onto them.
If you ask me, we need like a good 400 hour DVD disk that is recordable so I can put all my current DVDs on it.
Right now I cant trust firefox to do the things I need it to do. Just last night I was trying to get a replacement TiVo remote because I am evil to mine.. and I am using Firefox. How can I trust Firefox if I cant use it?
Canada [TSN] routinely EDITS Monday Night Raw to remove any violence against women. Including normal Wrestling Scenes.
Exactly how is that NOT censorship? I would not hold Canada up as a beacon against Censorship, they just censor different things.
Only reason I stayed at my job at times was because I have an office, good pay, decent people to work with, am respected..
and we have a Ping Pong and Fooseball table!!!
If you would like to work on a game..
:)

John Kerry stated he would repeal the act.

Mudding being a huge staple of Internet life in college time back when all us Open Source people were getting started.

When out in the field I cannot repair it? (Maintainance Key?) This just lost StorageTek for recommendations for me.
I.. cannot believe I was just on thier website friday looking at the solutions and considering it.
Thank you Slashdot for alerting me to this fatal flaw.
