    For email servers this is particularly useful.. Something to scan email attachments and never allow a doze box to get ahold of them. We did some scripting that would email sysadmin(me) whenever a virus was found on or in an email... Pretty nifty if this is in Linux.. Its been missing for a while. *shrugs* Use whatever works.

    As.. hard as this may be for you to imagine.. Not everyone will always have a computer.. And until they become more reliable I wont trust it with anything critical. You seem to a litttttle blindly trust email? I dont send anything in email I dont mind for the rest of the world knowing.. Because thats all it is a big huge open door. Nuff Said.. Email has problems.

    Heh I dont know about you guys but when im not at work I like to browse at -1. I think AC posts are REAL funny some of the time. And if you guys are willing to moderate up stuff even jokingly about it that means other people think that as well. Even if its relevant to the topic. I think they are an integral part of /. and as much as Id be sad for not having something to read at work.. It would NOT be the same.

    You are the one who is supposed to be aware of the psychology and mindframe of your audience this way you can deliver a proper writing to that group of people. Let me tell you something. 90% of slashdot is Compromised of Rational thinking people. Which probably Make up a total of 5% of the population! Do you see what this does? It gathers a HUGE amount of rational's and These are people proud of engineering work they do and wanting to show it off. Guard it and show people its the greatest. You better believe these people are gonna flame you.

    Whoever posted that message is so wrong. I am a very very private kind of person IRL. I have maybe two or three people IRL I care about. 2 Months ago when my wife died I could not even stand to hear anyones voice or be near other people.. I was in denial I sat at home for over a month pretending life would be okay. One day a package was delivered for her.. Stuff from the accident(a drunk hit us) And it floored me. I was unable to move for a long time. I made it to bed and did not move for a long time. I was so hurt and embarassed I could not face my only real friends I had left.. I turned to people online. Sure its all just text And its just a bunch of 1's and 0's. But the people who write and read it DO HAVE feelings. When people read hurtful things they feel genuine HURT and PAIN. And dont ever EVER believe otherwise. I spent a lot of time talking on the phone And.. Lifes still rough and its really rocky. But some of the best help and friends in my life can be (by whoever posted thats thinking) just a bunch of 1's and 0's? I think not. Its always going to be more than that. I am a person. Just because you cannot see me does not mean I do not get my feelings hurt if you send me a rude email. Just because its 1's and 0's does NOT mean anything. For that matter you can record your voice and turn it into 1's and 0's on your computer. But its still there and when you hear it it still makes you feel. *sigh* I read your post and it made me feel. When you write something you do so with the intent to either Inform someone or cause someone to feel a certain way. I gotta go.. I could cry about this all day.

    I thought ISA cards were very low mhz? So how could one keep up with a N64? Or is the low mhz just the communication with the processor? Anyone care to clarify?

    Its not just about apps. By that marker anyone who is still in MS just for Msword should be a Linux user since we have word perfect for linux now. Its also big companies like SCO helping shape a good Public image for linux. Its also about having the money to Handle the media. Even mirosoft with all its resources cannot do that so well.

    I have a credit card. I Use it a lot in place of cash and just pay the bill off at the end of the month. Anywhere you use that bad oscar it can be stolen. I got my CC bill one month. this was before I made it a 500 dollar limit. Bam 15,000 Dollars my damn card was maxed out. I shit a wooden nickel. I did only pay 50 bucks but good lord. I had shopped online for like 2 and a half years at that point. You know where it was stolen from? Macy's of all fargen places. One of the Cashiers there took like 15 or so CC nums and just went hog wild buying cars and whatever else. The point is ITS all insecure. So there just has to be a little trust between you and where ever or whoever you are buying with..

    If I had 100K and wanted a task done.. I wouldnt make a blooming ocntest out of it. I would hire one or two Programmers with good C and *nix experience and have my software developed that way.. This is smelling of publicity.

    Ill say it again jus to reiterate. The PIII Flip-Chips (PIII 500E etc.) are HIGHLY overclockable. Almost intentionally so. They have lower multipliers than original PIII's and everything. There made with the smaller Micron Manufacturing process so they generate less heat. There core is 'flipped' upwards so the cooler cools directly to where the heat is being generated basically. All of that leads one to wonder.. And yes they can be made to SMOKE. Right now those sound like the most fun to OC. oh well
