Bias isn't necessarily what annoys me. I would like to see more stories which foster discussion as opposed to sensational bullshit. Isn't their an interesting or nerdy or thought provoking or geeky news item that we can discuss? For fuck's sake, we know Microsoft sucks, we know 80% of slashdot's traffic is from IE, we know we don't like .NET, we know Ballmer is a monkey, come on, let's talk about something (ANYTHING) else.

If you have "Programming Windows 95", you know how thorough Petzold is. "Programming Windows" is basically the same but with an emphasis on Windows 98 and Windows 2k. That said, whenever you come across something strange, you can just hit MSDN to figure out what went wrong, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're ok.

MSDN. It's free, it's updated often.

If you're doing gui work, you need Programming Windows by Charles Petzold. Anyone who tells you otherwise, I would love to hear from.

If you don't mind a slow ass gui that gobbles memory and will leave you crying early in the morning, then get Programming Windows with MFC by Jeffrey Prosise.

If you require operating systems services like threads, processes, jobs/fibers, dlls, Unicode, etc., you need Programming Applications for Microsoft Windows by Jeffrey Richter. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Then (maybe before?) hit codeguru and codeproject.

Middle East: Immeasurable amounts of money to support the ghettoification of a large number of Arabs. It's as if the Israeli government is taking all their cues from the third reich (who got their cues from our excellent eradication of Native Americans).

Here's a suggestion: if you don't like the system and don't feel like changing the system, take your bombs and move to Columbia or the middle east.

Nonono, tell them to move, but don't let them bring their bombs with them, they'll just end up getting pointed right back at us.

We're an engineering school, and I've seen more job offers for people with Humanities degrees than for people with Physics degrees.

On weekends I take a break from my projects and play video games. I hang out with my friends maybe once a week, maybe less. My hobbies are programming (silly projects) and video games. I'm happy.
