Eugene Kim [1] (why didn't the poster give him credit? It's mostly his work, but I guess Doug is just a tid bit more popular) presented the system at WikiSym2006 [2] and did indeed show how to integrate this as additional view into a Wiki (I think he used his PurpleWiki [3])
Well in fact I don't care for the transfer speed between camera and PC as well. But the card speed *is* a bottleneck on the camera. Not only does it restrict how fast you can take the next picture (important if you try to shoot a fast moving object) but it also dictates the speed of reviewing the pictures on the camera. Nothing is more annoying than waiting a few secondes between each picture when you want to browse back a few pics.
I bought one of those SanDisk Ultra Extreme cards and never regreted it. A friend of mine bought a cheaper card (probably only half the price) but recently ditched it for the low performance.
..promising to release the source but it is still not available.
Some of his code is already available and the rest he is working on. I personally know Horar to be a firm beliver in OSS but he needs some time to organise and document the code. Have a little patience.
As far as I understand it he promised to show up the code for the last two years. Look: there a very simple thing he can do to make me and everyone else shut up: releasing the code. All of it. Not just tiny bits of character conversion scripts. The code for his currently working freedb compatible server. It doesn't matter if it is messy or uncommented. He just needs to tar it all up, put it under an open source licence and put it on his webspace. If he really wants to open his code he just needs to do this and his creditability is restored. Or he can just say "sorry I was bullshitting you and I'm going to build my own propritary nonfreedb".
Please note that Horar (the submitter) is the one who effectivly let freedb.org die. He worked with them for two years but didn't release any useful code. Now he is activly promoting his own project freedb2.org, promising to release the source but it is still not available.
I wonder why he should care about the data not being public domain, if his software is to be supposed GPL licensed? Unless well... think for your self.
I can't belive he just got more advertising on slashdot.
It allows you to compare the features of over 50 Wiki Engines. My personal favourite is of course DokuWiki http://wiki.splitbrain.org/wiki:dokuwiki but your mileage may vary.
Where is the source? I can't find it.

Hmm I looked at the URLs you provided but all I could find were some CREATE TABLE statements and some scripts to do conversion between different character encodings.
As far as I understand we're talking about a full FreeDB server here, something that is able to answer requests and accept new submissions. I haven't seen any such code!
There is no need to comment your source code in fancy HTML pages. We can read pure source. Just put up a tarball with the source online and we'll see what you did in the last two years.
It works very well for me (using it in DokuWiki Development). Applying patches send in by distributed Developers is very easy. It may not be the right choice for very big projects (like the Linux Kernel) but for smaller Projects like DokuWiki it's working great.
Am I the only one who loved Tie Fighter? I tried X-Wing but never got warm with it. It was damn hard (back then) but Tie Fighter was exact the right difficulty. Okay you had no shields with the lower models but you could make that up with the speed. It was really fun to be behind a damn X-Wing which had it's shield up but had no chance to escape you... I loved that game! But the best thing about it was the sound. I'm not sure but I think it was my very first soundcard - and everything sounded exactly like in the movies. The music and the wonderful sond of the Tie - even its explosions were great.
It was said multiple times but the days back then were great days when Lucas Arts still made great games. I have to stop now or I start to cry about how the days of Monkey Island, DOTT and Tie Fighter never will come back...
Now imagine if we stuck a Zepplin above the heads of our troops.
Yeah! And imagine we would use cyborgs instead of normal soldiers. Controlled from this Zeppelin and equiped with multiple weapons like lasers or gauss guns. Wouldn't that be cool? Hmm maybe we could come up with a cool name, too. How about Syndicate?
I switched from pine to CONE a long time ago. It looks nearly like Pine, but has integrated GPG support and works fine with IMAP folders.
See http://www.courier-mta.org/cone/cone00index.html for the website and http://wiki.splitbrain.org/cone for some info on compiling it.

christel> Rob was riding his bike on tuesday when he was hit by a car, he has spent the last few days at the neuro trauma ICU at a local hospital
christel> where he has been in a coma
christel> the news reached us this morning that Rob passed away early today
christel> Rob is survived by wife Debbie and son Benjamin
christel> and we ask that you all respect their privacy at this difficult time
christel> Robs funeral is most likely to be monday afternoon, although we have yet to get confirmation as Debs is waiting to hear from the MEs office that it can go ahead as planned
christel> and for those local, wishing to show their respects at his funeral, we ask that you email staff@freenode.net and we will try direct you as we can
christel> We will take some questions now and try answer them in channel, it would be appreciated if those with questions message beu, and we will answer on channel
christel> thank you
christel> the first question we've had is "What happens to freenode?"
beu> to answer the "who verified this?" question, members of freenode staff have been in contact with Rob's family over the past few days
christel> it is Debs wishes that freenode keeps running as close to normal as possible, and we will be working with the PDPC board to ensure that the network keeps running
beu> we are currently formulating an announcement and hope to have it online soon, in addition to an online "book of condolences"
christel> it has also been asked why lilos client is still connected
christel> i am sure you will all agree that at this point in time, we feel uncomfortable killing his client and find the mere idea rather morbid
christel> Robs nicknames will be quarantined to prevent abuse.
christel> A lot of people have asked how they can help
christel> Debs requests has been that people who knew Rob could donate to PDPC in his memory, or those wishing to make a more general contribution could give something to a bicycle safety campaign in their area.

I switched from pine to cone[1] a while ago and I love it
- Similar interface to pine
- Integrated GPG support
- handles IMAP and Maildir

So the mails stating Bill Gates will pay me money if I forward them are real!?
There are so much real open alternatives like subversion, arch and (my personal favourite) darcs - just to name a few. Why bother with bitkeeper?
When I read the headline I thought Wow Google copies koders.com . But no - it's just a "look people use our great API"-advertisement page.
You should remember it's 6 EuroCents so it's 3.60 EUR which is about 2.13835 EUR.
