    The major goal in any living being's life is to ensure the survival of his genes.

    Is it every man for himself, or is the goal to ensure the survival of the species as well? You can spend all day long screwing and you haven't contributed anything of value to society. If all of our ancestors chose to focus on 'physical mastery' of themselves instead of useful pursuits we would have long been wiped out.

    This is true. In classes that are both boring and easy, I tend to browse Slashdot or read email while paying half attention in case anything important is said. In hard classes, my full attention is required and I don't usually goof off. I find the most effective method of note taking is if the lecturer provides a copy of their PowerPoint to follow along with and annotate. I may also record the audio so I can go through the whole lecture again if I need to.

    Even if dying weren't a problem with cancer anymore, it would still be a big burden on the health care system and this treatment surely wouldn't be cheap for the individual.

    since you've started down this road... catholic==YES would not work. i think perhaps (catholic==true) would be more accurate or the attribute route... pope religion="catholic" /pope
