You don't actually think with your brain do you? I personally don't have much of a problem with banning certain breeds, as it has become clear that many people can't train them correctly. However what you are talking about is purposefully making an animal aggressive... there are few dog owners that actually do that. And that can be done to any breed, or probably any animal. The bear analogy is stupid, and if you actually think about it you will realize that. You will also realize that making stupid arguments like you did will only degrade your position, not support it, as most people will see through your veil of logic. I'll make a deal with you, you quit saying stupid shit, and I won't start.

Anyone can express an opinion. Isn't opinion protected? Libel and slander usually involve you trying to make something true that isnt - aka. lying. You can say you think this kid is a fag all day. You can't say you saw him giving a bj to a guy in a public restroom, if that is false.

As long as what you say is an opinion, and you don't try to flat out lie, you can say what you want. Look at the article about Glenn Beck from earlier this week. If that isn't libel/slander, there seems to be little chance that an AC can be sued for those offenses with generic insults. Did this guy accuse him of rape and murder?

I am far more happy to keep it "say anything you want" vs. "say anything that doesn't piss anyone else off". Screw the quickly offended and easily scared.

Their system costs could be hundreds a month, not tens of thousands. When the yearly cost of IT services is under 10 grand, even a 50% cost cut isn't really big news. In that case, you have to show how you have improved the usability, improved information availability and BS like that. It's actually much easier to just report tech numbers, cut and dry, and while the CIO/CTO might like that paragraph you wrote in a company with dozens of servers, it sounds like that would bring a silence in this case. They want to to know how the business is affected by IT, not how awesome your systems are. This is a fundamental difference in big vs small companies.

  14. Re:This is news? on Why a High IQ Doesn't Mean You're Smart · · Score: 1

A child's IQ can be in the 200's because of the way the test is calculated. It is based on what the "average" (or is it median?) person of that age can do.

    10 year old knows A
    20 year old knows AB
Smart kid at 10 knows AB - that means his IQ is about 200
Smart kid turns 20 and knows ABC - since all 20 year-olds know AB, his IQ is now only 150

And that is simplified way to much, but it makes it easy to understand why kids can get such an outrageous IQ score. Once they hit adulthood the IQ will come down to below 160 or so. It had nothing to do with competing with Asians (they can use the same system, too).

Keeping it illegal does keep prices high as the risk of arrest is there; prohibition does nothing to prevent new competition in the market, but actually increases the competition as profits are higher and there is no reason you can't buy some weed and sell it on the next block. There are no forms to fill out, hardly any startup costs (you don't need a store), no worries about bad checks, cc processing, etc. Your only barrier is the willingness of the competition to stop you (turf wars).

I know you weren't advocating prohibition, but you really have to think about all the angles, and for the most part there is nothing that prohibitions makes better, safer or less appealing for almost every party involved. That we have ZERO EVIDENCE of your god, is no problem for you. Seriously?

And your evidence, is hardly. The first link is a book, so I don't have time to read that. The second pointed to the story of the siege at Jericho. The "evidence" is that there was a city there, and it did lose a battle at that time. GREAT! So a major victory was recorded in history! It even says that the probably reason the walls fell was earthquake, not god (and no he didn't cause it, or else you have to blame every death of every good person in a earthquake on your god as well). This proves, nor confims, anything about your religion. This only confirms the history of that battle, not the fact that your god had some hand in the victory.

And your third link states this: "The New Testament stands alone in historical accuracy. It is the greatest of the resurrection proofs. The gospels themselves are the most reliable historical books in existence." AWESOME! Your religion is the best evidence of your religion! It claims the bible is all knowing and perfectly accurate and because of that, we must be able to deduce that Christ really died and resurrected. Have you ever heard two sides of a car accident? Have you ever thought you saw someone move in the night, only to see it was something inanimate? Have you ever heard of a jury of 12 finding no reasonable doubt as to the guilt of man; have you heard of DNA evidence freeing that same person (or even non-DNA evidence)?
