  1. Re:Just stop it on How Europe Will Lower Emissions — Self Driving Cars · · Score: 1

What about car assurances? If the car will crash into another one, who is responsible for it? The car maker or I? I think public transport is the best solution. Big cities can offer a lot of opportunity, small village are problematic but you can take you bike, at least on free time.

I think that Facebook and Twitter will die before email, because email has not a propertary service and FB an TW are owned by someone.

  3. Windows 8, when? on Microsoft Leaks Details of 128-bit Windows 8 · · Score: 1

If it is true, I suppose that Windows the 8th will be published in a far future. I do not know a 128 bit achitecture that is also commercial. The same fact for Windows Vista delay.

  4. Power server one on Reasonable Hardware For Home VM Experimentation? · · Score: 1

Xeon or AMD equivalent processors are best because they have a lot of second and third level cache. Two gigabyte network card are required, but 4 are suggested. One network interface for traffic and the other one for migration or administation. Hard discs faster as you can permit (money question): SCSI, RAID configuration. Memory depends on how many virtual machine you are going to handle (operating system, jobs to carry out, ...). You have to remember you have to attribute some memory to host operating system. If you plan to use VMware ESX (or free version ESXi), you have to chose a compatible server, because drivers cannot be available for a generic own build server.

  11. functional program languages are the future on What Programming Languages Should You Learn Next? · · Score: 1

Functional program languages are more efficient than object oriented ones. In order to reduce powercompsuntion, a speedful program can use more threads (e.g. Yaws, a web server wrote in erlang). In my opinion, ML and its sons, erlang are the future.

  12. It's important to update immediatly a security bug on Mass Website Hack Compromises 200,000 Sites · · Score: 1

I am so lucky, because I upgraded my forum phpbb2 to phpbb3 in time. I think that phpbb2 is not well writen, but it is the best free (and open source) forum cms I know. I hope phpbb3 will be better than its father. The important thing is update immediatly when a security upgrade will be released. That is my opinion.
