Also, they won't make you go through five levels of "are they really your balls? Prove it."
If you had read the Apple EULA as you were supposed to, you'd know that your balls already belong to Steve, alone with everything else in your pitiful fanboi lives.
Ah, the AGW scientists are applying themselves to the problem I see.
No, my bad. Had it been an AGW scientist, the correct answer would have been "blue, and it's caused by increased CO2 levels affecting the paintwork, we're peer-reviewed scientists, we MUST be right, do not argue with us".
I don't remember a single instance where a Postal Service, a Telephone Company or a Bank were asked to behave in this manner ?
Fine, monitor the transactions being made, report them to the concerned party upon presentation of a search warrant or other legal document. But an ISP should NOT be judge, jury and executioner, they should only ever be a "witness" / "informant" (delete as appropriate).
All these companies provide is a service, and they are only legally / morally obliged to report wrongdoings. They are not required to go in "Jack Bauer" style and take out the dirty pirates. That's the job of the legal system.
Nah, the title would have been "GoDaddy HACKZORED my server".
Completely misleading, check. Uses the word "hack" inappropriately, check. Links to other articles about a different branch of the same company, check.
... and when you've finished counting, subtract all the scientists who asked for their names to be removed due to being misquoted in the summaries and conclusions (written by politicians and influenced by news reports and other media), but that the IPCC chose to include anyway.
Please try to get your terminology correct, saves you looking quite so stupid.
I don't think anyone *denies* that climate is changing. What the skeptics think is that the "A" part of AGW does not apply, i.e. is is NOT caused primarily by man.
It has been demonstrated time and time again that in the past the earth was also hotter and contained more carbon dioxide. Who caused that, the bloody dinosaurs ?
Conversely, it has NOT been demonstrated that increased carbon dioxide OR rise in temperature will necessarily be bad for civilization as a whole. Sure, some low lying areas might get flooded, but then again, the Sahara Desert might be green again as it once was.
Are we really going to base billions of dollars in carbon credits, taxes and other bullshit schemes on the basis of "I don't want to move house" ?
What a load of tosh. So you need a CompSci degree to be a professional coder ?
I've just finished a 9 year employment with a company that was based not on degrees, CVs or other paperworks, but on the basis of a successful 6 week freelance project back in 2000. I should point out I'm completely self taught, no formal training whatsoever.
Coding has nothing to do with language or syntax, but upon having an analytical mind. Breaking down a problem into it's bare elements, and knowing how to make those elements work together is everything. There's plenty of CompSci grads who can parrot off the functions and procedures available in NET or JAVA, but haven't got the first clue how to apply those to the problem at hand.
Anyone who is willing to pay double bubble for their hardware just to have the Apple logo on it, probably doesn't need the insurance anyway. Money to burn and all that. Just saying...
Years ago, when MS was making advances in IE4, and NS sucked balls and couldn't keep up, MS were the bad guys for "jumping the gun", and not following standards.
Nowadays, when the other browsers are ahead, and MS has fallen behind, MS are the bad guys for "not keeping up", even though the standard in question is not yet finalized, and won't be for the foreseeable future.
Some of you are more than just shills, you are religious fanatics.
Meh, I'm just waiting for the first malicious website popup that looks *exactly* like the browser choice screen to appear.
You're using IE8, visit a website, all of a sudden a window pops up asking you if you want to install a different browser. Download and instant box pwnage.
You think Granny is going to know the difference, especially after her grandson explained "this is normal, and lets you choose other things to use" ?
Congrats EU, you've done a fine job in making people trust popups and increasing the botnet population.
You know it's funny, because the exact opposite happened to me. I wanted AdBlockPlus and DownloadHelper, I downloaded the addons from the website, and could I get IE8 to install them ?
Maybe now you'll realise the ridiculousness of your post ? ActiveX doesn't work with non-MS applications... well no shit, Sherlock.
So if you don't like the price, keep a game you don't want and profit by exactly 0 dollars. Your choice.
Or sell it privately on E-Bay, and see how much you can get. Jeez, anyone would think you were forced to hand your stuff over at gunpoint.
Like it or not, they're running a business just like everyone else. They take all the risk of buying a game they might not even manage to resell. You get cash up front with no hassles or questions. I fail to see the problem.
Well if he's "avoiding it like the plague", then let me address it.
We won't make that $50k back, so no. Make it $1k per year, and you've got a deal That's $49k per year in lost profits for the RIAA for that song
Apart from the fallacy that the record store is only willing to risk 1k "up front", he still MIGHT make 50k in sales, depending on the quality of the goods. He is just not willing to guarantee the RIAA profits by taking on the huge risk himself at the start of the deal. So the potential is still there for the RIAA to profit, just no longer the potential to unload crap on record stores, and let them absorb the losses.
Record stores, like the rest of the population, have got wise, and what once has a perceived value of X dollars now has a lower perceived value of Y dollars. That is not "lost", it is just worth less... see the difference ?
This is simply the RIAA wising up to the fact that the crap they used to be able to sell at 50k, they can now only sell for 1k, due to a changing marketplace.
Adapt or die, just like every other business has to in a fast changing world.
Uncompressed video is magnitudes more information that uncompressed audio.
Here's my rough calculation for uncompressed hi def video ...
1920 pixels x 1080 pixels x 24 bit color x 25 frames per second
= 1244160000 bits per second
= 1215000 kilobits per second
= 1185 megabits per second
= 1.15 gigbits per second
And that's using the more generous 1024 base than the sneaky 1000 base that the DSL companies use when reporting speeds.
Once we have 1.18 Gbit/s connections, then uncompressed 1080 might be possible.
Safari on iPad comes with FlashBlock built-in for free.
Always be wary of "built-in for free" on a device that just cost you a second mortgage to buy.
Everyone who has handled one says it's really fast
It's funny, but when I play Solitaire only, no other apps open, THAT's really fast too !
Get the point ?
Also, they won't make you go through five levels of "are they really your balls? Prove it."

Sorry, am I being too cynical ?

How convenient for you that we've just started a new one. (Decade).

Wallace and Grommit are more likely to re-visit the moon than the US !
Nice bit o' cheese Grommit !
And I suppose even that will come laden with DRM, so that it can only be used with the console you purchased it with.
You want to go over your friends house and play 2up, you'll have to buy another controller.
However, in Singapore, it's also common for people to be fined for not smiling at tourists, and to be shot at dawn for chewing gum or smoking.
Perhaps you have some anecdote about iPhone Centers in North Korea or Iran you'd like to share with us, for a really unbiased comparison.

They mail you a USB stick in the post ?
They transmit the bits via semaphore ?
I'm intrigued with this internet-less upgrade method you described.

And when all the regular buyers are ALSO on Pirate Bay, we'll all be one big happy family.
Um, because in this era of digital media, a used game is still the same as the original game ?
It's not like Sonic the Hedgehog suddenly becomes lame, or Mario cricks his back while jumping into pipes ...
