I find sometimes that my 17 inch Sager laptop is too much to carry around to the library, Starbucks, the library and even lans. When I am expecting to get some work done, I'll take the N10 along, and if I find some downtime, I'll hit up a game of TF2 or CoD 4 and leave Crysis/World In Conflict/Company of Heroes etc for home.
Amen. I know this is/.,but it seems like we're a bit out of touch.
I doubt people even know what effect DRM plays in their "digital lives", because, for example, Apple's ecosystem is so tight that it's entirely possible to never leave it(made for iPod audio systems in cars, Home Theaters in a Box, FairPlay works in Windows and Mac OS X, and of course, the iPod) when it comes to listening to music and never have problems with DRM(many Americans do this);"it just works".
No sarcasm intended, but thank you for enlightening me on the plugins for the G15, as the Wiki page does not have any mention of many of those plugins.
Silly me, I shoulda assumed that some guy would've made this stuff.
Still, the SDK is Windows only, while LCDProc runs on Linux and the BSD's (OS X as they mention Darwin?). SideShow is a M$ product though.
SideShow has M$ product linked features(WMA,etc), but I'm sure that the Logitec SDK will allow you to do the same thing sans pictures(and that's fine).
The G15, for those of you following at home, is $100 MSRP, not that bad.
dang it you got me, I was about to talk about the G15.
However, the G15 is not SlideShow or LCDproc compatible(correct me if I am wrong), so its of limited utility for non gamers(yes there is that plugin for Miranda IM, etc but still)
Hence once of the reasons why Flash is not installed by default even though its a de facto "standard"(of course, the main reason why would be that its not OSS)
I forgot to add a "In the US" disclaimer, hey, c'mon, I'm out of bawls.
And I did mention that Google will have to battle Nokia,I know that they ship the most cell phones worldwide.
On an different note, I did read all the TFAs, and I wonder if Android phones are being released outside of the US this fall, considering that Google is a US company.
I agree. Android will be a bit player in the war.
When I go outside (no not to buy more bawls),I can easily say that 30% or so of the phones I see are iPhones(most of them being 1.0's;I've only seen 1 3G out in the wild ever since its release). Google will have a hard time dislodging Apple from its current position(as I assume that Google's target audience is also Apple's target audience),and since people are locked into a 2 year contract(a contract that costs upwards of $250 to break), unless Google can offer moar cool(ie:bragging rights) than Apple, people won't spring. And Google can't offer "moar cool", let's be honest. No,a picture of a ruby won't cut it.
Android's openness will be lost upon Joe Blow. He'll think "Gee, the iPhone has the App Store, so what's special about Android?". Nor will he care that it runs Linux,in fact, Linux will be a foreign concept to him.
RIM, Nokia, and Windows Mobile has been around for a while, and unless Android offers the average Joe something that the aforementioned do not,Google may find themselves in a bit of a hole.
All I have to say to Google is GLHF.
The Estonians have learned from their statue incident, where the Russians DDoS'ed many of the websites hosted in the country(see this:http://www.wired.com/politics/security/magazine/15-09/ff_estonia), I would imagine that they are ready for another attack.
let's just hope that more programs in the future are written so that they can scale well to the 100s of cores that new CPUs will have.
People were pretty slow to get onto the dual core bandwagon...so here's hoping.
It's even worse because Mass Effect has a bug in the RETAIL version that makes the game impossible to play(the forever overheated weapons), and cracks fix that bug...hmmm...
Nvidia and ATi have created something that (kinda) fits your description: Hybrid SLi and Hybrid Graphics, respectively. Unfortunately, only the low end cards(8400GS/8500GT and the 2400/3400 series for Nvidia and ATi)are supported as the "discrete" part of the mix.
