Prisons are full to overflowing with people who went there in order to support the rights of others to control their own thoughts through the use of the chemical supplements of their choice.
Is it important to have women and men of a variety of ethnicities elected to the Presidential and Vice Presidential offices? If so, what will you do to help encourage these groups participate in the highest offices of the Executive Branch?
Gosh, this is a wierd question. If someone wants to be President, they get involved and get people to vote for them. Is it President Bush's or Senator Kerry's fault that Carol Moseley Braun or Al Sharpton didn't do better in the primaries? Ok, maybe it was a little bit Kerry's fault. What should Kerry have done better? How do you expect him to answer? Should the Democrats have a "black" campaign year, where only black candidate are elgible for the nominating process? Or should Democracy be allowed to run its course?
Tell me, did "staying the course" work for Vietnam?
We didn't "stay the course" in Vietnam. That's why it is so important to stay the course in Iraq. If we turn back, all the successes that we have had in Iraq will be lost, and Iraq will be another 'vietnam'
Because Freedom hurts. Should we let beheadings continue in Baghdad just because people should be free to do what they want? Rapists to be free to take advantage of women, just because they want to? Bank robbers free to rob banks, just because they want money?
Freedom, if it is to be viable, must be restrained. This restraint is called moral law. Without some morality dictating how we live, we can't have a 'safe' society. Democrats and Republicans disagree on Freedoms, because they disagree how much society should be able to morally hurt others. Democrats believe that social 'injury' should not be prevented. Republicans believe that fiscal 'injury' should not supercede fiscal responsibility.
We have plenty of room ready, especially in preperation for the dogers after President Bush reinstates the draft to fight his war(s) (if gets back in).
Read my journal entry on the subject of the draft. I'm sure that you will be depressed to learn that it is really Democrats who are trying to reinstate the draft. Democrats who think nothing of using your sons and daughters as pawns to try to hurt President Bush.
I don't claim that CBS forged anything, nor has anyone proven that they are forgeries.
ARE YOU BLIND?!? Dan Rather spoke up on national television and said that the memos were not verified as authentic as they made them out to be. The gig is over. Lawyers are being hired. This is no joke.
Killian's secretary already told the press that fake or not, the content of those documents is truth.
And Killian's family has said that she was lying. So who are you going to believe? The left, who hates Bush and would forge documents to say what they want using an lt dead some 20 years and then get a little old lady to corroborate them, or a family who knew him well? Somehow, with what I know so far, I'm going with the family over a story that had cooked up this farce to prove their vindictive point.
Come on, if the story was viable, as you say, without the memos, then why did they forge the memos to begin with?
Do they really think that people who are already breaking a few laws care about this legislation?
It's the same issue with gun control. That's why Republican's didn't renew the Assault Weapons ban. Do you really think that people breaking the law care about what the law says about buying guns, or sharing files?
Wait a minute. I thought Governor Davis was responsible for the energy scandal. Did the Democrats cast him out to the Republicans after he was recalled? My, My, Democrats will do anything to push their troubles on those "capitalistic" Republicans, won't they?
Actually, my vote doesn't count precicely because most of the people in my state choose to vote for my candidate. Whether or not I vote for the candidate is essentially negated by the flood of other people who are voting for the candidate... We're sending the same number of representatives to the electoral college either way.
Well, then your vote helps ensure that your candidates electoral votes are counted. And your is also counted in the popular vote, which, as we saw in the last election is very important, because if people don't vote because their state vote their way anyways, it skews the popular vote and makes things look funny.:)
I've lived in two different states in the past four elections. Because neither of which were contested, neither candidate spent a single penny of their advertising dollars there. Arguably, the only candidate in recent memory who spent any money in my state was Ross Perot, and that was because he bought national airtime. There have been no corner debates, because the supporters of the minority candidate knew that the states were lost causes. Nobody's arguing or debating anything with anyone. 3rd party candidates are the only ones talking, and that's how they're getting a whopping 2%. The electoral college is ensuring that the value of my vote is minimized to the point where nobody really wants it.
It's not really that complicated. Get more then 50% of your state to vote for your candidate. Just get a close margin of likely voters in your state to vote for your candidate, and the candidates will be there. We did that in Minnesota and for the first time in 32 years my party has a chance to win the state.
If your vote doesn't "count" it is because most of the state chose not to vote for your candidate. You really can't blame that on the electoral college.
In my recent vacation in the US I was stunned that nobody saw a world-famous picture with US troops guarding the ministry of oil.
Meanwhile, employees of a major Baghdad power plant were also bewildered by the presence of several explosive devices planted around the Jameela facility, which supplies one third of the capital's electricity.
You don't think that it would be important to protect the power plant that provides 1/3 of Baghdad's power? Or the Ministry of Oil building? Should they just let the insurgents destroy them? That'd really help the situation?
It is hard to convince Europeans that the Iraqi war is not about oil when a picture like that is in the paper...
Probably why it's not in the paper here. Really, there are a lot of pictures of the Iraq war. Hopefully, we are above posting pictures of troops protecting important resources to try to convince people the war is wrong.
I don't know about elsewhere, but here in Minneapolis, MN Dell has been running an ad campaign, radio and print promoting Oracle on Linux.

I'm really not convinced the Citrix/VMware thing will fly - almost any company of a size that would find desktop Linux interesting will have multiple custom or specialist apps deployed. This is especially true of things like some popular HR apps which despite being "web apps" tend to have bizarre dependencies on Internet Explorer and particular JVMs, etc - basically I find it hard to imagine that a companies employees would be satisfied with running Windows in a box.
Do you know what's funny? I just finished a project at a client that ran a citrix client XP for some of their applications. I interviewed at a company last year that ran their business app on a citrix client on XP. And I worked for another company a few years ago who ran their financial app over a citrix client on ME.
The funny thing is, I'll bet those apps would have ran just as well on a citrix client on Linux.

What if someone in Nigeria actually wants to purchase $30,000 worth of laptops? It's not impossible.
The TTY Relay service is legally only usuable in the US. So, even if a deaf Nigerian wanted to order $30,000 of computers, they couldn't use the TTY Relay service.
What's bugging me is reading this Clarke book, in particular the lack of information awareness of the FBI. It's small wonder that more of the clowns spamming and scamming aren't getting busted. It would seem a fairly minor effort to look these people up, gather some evidence and send an agent over to bust their chops (or pass the stuff along to local athorities.)
Hey, I thought we were against the Patriot Act here.
If having black boxes in cars will make people more responsible for their actions, I am all for it. If they mean less people will die or be injured as a result of a driver breaking the law, it is a positive thing. I support black boxes because I believe in personal responsibility and accountability.
I do think this would make the world a better place.

how about using a bandwidth throttling application to only allow the application to only send 1 byte per minute?
I'd guess it would take you a long time to get one computer hour at that rate.
That corporations will say "Gee, we're paying less taxes...let's take that money and hire more people!".
So, if my business makes a million dollars a year and the tax rate is 20%, I have 10 employees at about $50,000 a year. Now, if everything stays the same, but the tax rate goes up to 40%, how many more employees will I now be able to hire? 2, 6, 20?
No, it turns out that the first thing I'd have to do is to lay off 4 employees. Has the tax increase improved my profits or worsen them? Obviously, my profits got worse. But that means that I'd either reduce salaries, or lay off employees. Turns out people would rather not make anything then take a $20000 a year pay cut. So, as you see, tax increases increase joblessness.
But, say the tax rate went from 20% to 10%. Now I can hire 2 more people to improve my business. So, a tax decrease would have the potential to reduce joblessness.
it would seem that our tax dollars are not spent well.
That's a great point. Tax money is not spent well. That's why it is better to lower taxes as much as possible and free up more money for jobs, and for people who earn the money to keep it to get the best health care, education, and 'benefits' that they are able too.
People, obviously, do not like to be punished - especially when they do not feel like they are doing something wrong. So people are going to avoid punishments (i.e. taxes) whenever possible.
But I thought taxes were good because they provide funds to pay for things like universal healthcare, education, and those without jobs. Who wouldn't want to pay their taxes and make it harder to receive those benefits?
Check the actual facts of the site. They are correct.
Exactly my point. They are using actual facts. It's not satire.
Now, the reason they should be sued is because they are using facts to misrepresent the truth. They are lying with the facts. That damages the PM, so I think he has a right to sue.
I looked at the site. This isn't the Onion. I can't believe it is satire at all. It's just pure propaganda.
Should propaganda be protected speech? I don't think so. When a site tries to sway people's opinion through lies and twisted facts, they should be sued.
That's a FELONOUS act?
