Unless it's some convoluted way to try and progress what seems to be the IPv6 of the display server world (Mir / Wayland), isn't spreading this thing to other distros a bit of a bad idea?
And Feminism is now considered a Very Bad Thing by large chunks of the internet (I still like it, but I see/understand it differently to how most seem to).
It's hated for two primary reasons by my view:
1) Some of the newer third wave stuff often associated with Tumblr has gone a bit too far the other way and started to push man-hate, and they're so loud and vocal that they've managed to give the illusion of hijacking the entire movement, which is moderate and supposed to help men as well as women (by for example changing the image of feminine away from something to somehow be ashamed of)
2) Younger generations are less keen to associate themselves with the sins of their fathers i.e. historical misogyny and privilege. As they were born into a world where equality is encouraged and we don't have so much of an indoctrination into the old patriarchy, they feel that those who tell males they're privileged and should be mindful of feminist issues, are actually trying to oppress men and make people feel guilty for being born with the wrong genitals.
Sadly, this has manifested itself in quite rampant hate towards all things interpreted as feminist, which includes anything aimed at females or featuring a female heavy cast (Ghost Busters). One could rightly argue other factors (like whether Ghost Busters is crap regardless of gender) but I do think it gets silly sometimes as I do see a heavily anti-anything-that-smells-feminist bias out there at the moment.
As always I think both sides are simply human and have their own worries and issues of defensiveness. But at the moment are more likely to dehumanise and attack each other, unfortunately, or go on mass sabotage efforts like this.
The impression I got was that they actually want to encourage free speech and make people feel safe expressing their views - I don't imagine it's actually an anti Trump voter thing. What they're trying to stop is all the bullying and death threats, and there's plenty of that happening on both sides of the political fence, so it should actually *help* the Trump voters express themselves.
The internet's been especially bad for this ever since all that "gamergate" shit where suddenly if you express any hint of slight left-leaning views you're slapped with that massively overused SJW acronym and all kind of derision for that, if you're more towards the right and criticise actual hard-left views you're "OMG misogynist death eater shitlord from Hell" and there's like nothing in between any more. It's ridiculous. And nerds are the worst for it now. What happened to when we were all about the Star Trek "love and harmony between different cultures and people who hold different views" kind of stuff and could actually talk about social issues and whatnot without hurling abuse at each other? I think that's all Twitter's after. I'm all for it.

Suggestions for alternative password managers that work on all the same platforms? So Linux would need to be included (meaning 1password is out), and iOS and Android as well.

What's bothering me is that in recent years (say the past 5 or so) the politics of the internet - at least what I've seen of them - have become extremely polarised. More and more people are diving to those nutjob extreme ends of things (e.g. 'right' and 'left' to simplify) and in a way kind of waging war on each other. This leaves the centre, where much of the civil discussion and negotiation would happen, feeling a bit empty. If you try to mediate and calmly present a point of one side to the other, it's very easy to get dismissed as 'one of them' (e.g. 'an SJW') and one of the extreme ones to boot.
This was particularly my experience in trying to get my head around gamergate in terms with trying to engage with any of it... "Well maybe in some cases there could be natural flaws and biases in journ.." "SEXIST GAMERGATE FOURCHAN SCUM!" "Well you know guys, to be fair maybe women could sometimes be better repre.." "SJW TUMBLRISTA FAGGOT!" It was just impossible.

The irony on UD there is that it talks about someone shouting at a feminist for saying they don't like the colour pink as it's too "prissy", yet most usage I've seen of SJW recently (e.g. from the gamergate crowd) has been synonymous with "militant feminist", which in a way seems like a contradiction.
Frankly it's all too confusing to me. SJW seems to have evolved to mean "person I disagree with", pretty much - it's a quick label to throw at someone to dismiss their argument. See also "right winger" and other such misused terms.

And perhaps by offering me more relevant ads, they will feel less inclined to overload me with intrusive ones to be "more effective".
Ads that pop over content, cause you to play "guess the real download link" or auto play though can die in a fire. So can most of Youtube's advertising.

People who go to these lengths would surely be either: Really determined for some reason (in which case they'd probably social engineer it out of you or something) People who'd just cut your finger off The police (at which point they've already obtained your phone and fingerprint) The NSA (who probably already have a backdoor) Either way, it's more secure than your typical 4 digit PIN or pattern unlock.

3 years ago I liked what Google were doing and disliked what Apple were doing so I switched to Google Now, vice versa. There's no brand loyalty here, but these happen to be the two biggest mobile OS manufacturers (sorry but Blackberry and Microsoft are irrelevant by comparison IMO) and in direct competition, so damn right I'll pick a side when one is doing something I like and the other is doing something I don't.
Whilst you do sound like a channer (no offence - Anonymous is what they call themselves, and your writing style reminds me of one I know, but they do sometimes pretend to "know things") I wish I could mod you up as this is exactly what I'm suspecting as well. I really don't think the corporations are necessarily all Evil Devils out to collude with the NSA and do all sorts of nasty things with the data of individuals.
They're successful financially but surely this doesn't automatically mean they have no conscience.
