The UKIP imo is more established than a pressure group, they've been around longer than a decade and got over 3 times the number of votes than the BNP in the latest election. They may be seen as a one policy party, but then the same can easily be said for the BNP.

What about Greens and UKIP? Both got way more votes than the far right BNP.

And don't forget Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish parties as well. They may not have got as many votes due to lower populations in those areas but at least they got some seats.

The beeb has it's balls in a vice that is controlled by Tessa Jowell. After Hutton the BBC survived it's Charter Renewal with the licence fee intact on the condition that it reformed and spent less money.

The BBC had to sell off a bunch of it's departments in order to please our privatisation loving government.

Whilst I have no problem spending 120quid or so a year on the BBC a lot of other people do.

I expect the licence fee wont survive the next charter renewal and the BBC needs to reposition itself so that it has a chance of surviving once it's not being publicly funded.

IMO this will be a terrible loss to our country and perhaps the world.

Interesting, can I ask who you voted for? How you did it? In my opinion it's not that hard to vote without a polling card in this Country, but I do believe it's a little harder than just walking in and crossing a box.

I find it pretty hard to believe that they would let you open a bank account without photo ID. The Letter addressed to yourself, normally from a Utility, is not a form of ID it is a proof of address.

As for mother's maiden name, I can't think of any time I've ever only been asked to supply that in order to access something, usually it is used in conjunction with a few other pieces of information.

Frankly I have to say I'm fairly skeptical of your comments and think you've over exagerated.

Hmm. I was under the impression that the main use for BitTorrent is to share the load of software downloads. Given that (as far as I know) there is no way to search for a file over BitTorrent (other than finding the appropriate tracker), using it as a Napster-alike would be both impractical and somewhat masochistic.

    How is the system funded?

The ASA's work is funded by a small levy on display advertising and direct mail expenditure. In order for the ASA to preserve its independence from the advertising industry, a separate body, the Advertising Standards Board of Finance, collects this income. The only cost to consumers is the price of a stamp, or the time spent online, to send a complaint. The ASA's budget for the year 2003 is just over £4 million.

Also lets not forget the change in the way crimes are recorded in the last few years leading to more recorded crimes under the new system than the old one.

IIRC if you were to mug a group of three people that's three violent crimes. Under the old system that would just be one.

I wonder how well that suggestion would go down tomorrow if you suggested to all the Americans celebrating Independence day that they should have just lived with British opression and any deaths the British inflicted were all justified because they were provoked.

If you think killing someone for punching you in the nose is the right thing to do you live in a different era to the rest of the world.
