Yeah I know what you mean. I have a few members of my class who happily say they want to be party members. Probably some more who do and don't say it. When I first got here a fellow teacher told me to look out for the student who turned up to every class and took more notes than anyone else;)
The Student tutor who all the students go to if they have any issues is a fully paid up card carrying member, so I do watch what I say around him.
So far I've not had anyone bring up the 3 T's but I've had one guy talk about wanting to go to England and the US as they are "freedomlands". I just gently change the conversation. For all I know he's one of the commies testing me;)
whilst I don't really agree with the original poster, your post is full of crap.
Firstly congrats for repeating the same smears leaked by the police after the event. We don't yet have a shoot to kill policy for illegal immigrants or cocaine users. The fact of the matter is that he walked into the station, stopped to pick up a paper, walked through the ticket gates, descended the escalator and then ran across the platform to catch a train where he sat down. The police did not give any warnings before shooting him. Apparently there is no evidence to suggest he even knew the police were following him until the very last moment.
Onto the Forest Gate pair, more trial by tabloid here. So they had 30k stashed in the house, not illegal (not many banks here offer Islamic accounts). Had a brother who'd done time, again not illegal. As for the child porn, the guy has been arrested but not yet charged, I'd suggest waiting for our legal system to play it's part before tarring him with that brush too. As for it never being proved that they weren't planning a bombing, in the UK our justice system is quite straight forward, we have to prove that someone is guilty not that they're innocent (unless you're a Sun reader).
I can understand the original poster's cynicism when the majority of terror arrests made and then spun by the government in the press turn out to be crap. Ricin Threat, Bombing ManU, Tanks at Heathrow and Forest Gate and just four that pop into my head. The Government have only themselves to blame, they took spin doctoring to a whole new level it's no surprise that now these arrests are taken with a pinch of salt.
Whilst anyone who thinks there is no terror threat is delusional, I think anyone who belives all terror threat propaganda released by our government can be put in the same boat.
The pervious posters summary of the situation seems accurate.
I'm slightly confused.
I'd summarise your comment as that Hezbollah were not all over the UN base and that the Israeli's were just trying to get lucky with their attacks. But the guy I replied to was saying that the email showed Hezbollah were all over the UN base and that the Israeli attacks around it were legitimate.
I agree that Fox News's reporting of the crisis hasn't been as biased as I'd expected, however I was only using Fox as an example of an organisation who put getting their opinion across ahead of getting the facts across, like the guy in the orginal post was doing. I used Fox as I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that the guy I was replying to was American, I'd use The Sun as a British based example (funnily enough also owned by the dirty digger).
My argument was and remains that the email originally cited did not show that Hezbollah were "all over" the UN base.
Rubbish again. It still does not show they were "all over" the base.
He did not say how many times artillery landed 2 metres from the post. Could be once, or could be 100 times. He did not say why it landed there, Maybe a lone fighter was seen near the post maybe there were 100 of them.
I'm not trying to spin anything I'm just trying to correct a quote that is blatently false. I provided a full quote from the email and let the reader decide for themselves rather than doing a Fox News and giving people my opinion as a fact.
I guess you are:
1) The orignal poster 2) The orignal poster 3) All of the above
Search the email for "all over" and you get nothing. If you bother to read the email you'll find he says:
"This is all the information of a non-tactical nature that I can provide you. I cannot give you any info on Hezbollah position, proximity or the amount of or types of sorties the IAF is currently flying. Suffice to say that the activity levels and operational tempo of both parties is currently very high and continuous, with short breaks or pauses. Please understand the nature of my job here is to be impartial and to report violations from both sides without bias. As an Unarmed Military Observer, this is my raison d'etre.
What I can tell you is this: we have on a daily basis had numerous occasions where our position has come under direct or indirect fire from both artillery and aerial bombing. The closest artillery has landed within 2 meters of our position and the closest 1000 lb aerial bomb has landed 100 meters from our patrol base. This has not been deliberate targeting, but has rather been due to tactical necessity."
You can read into that how you like, but to quote him as saying the fighters were "all over" the base is just bullshit.
Care to back that up with anything or you just going to make baseless claims? I know a number of police officers and from what I've learnt from them I can't really see anything wrong with what he has said.
US: 46 Officers shot dead this year, 53 last year, 2 in the last week. UK: 2 Officers shot dead in the last 2 years, 11 in the last 20 years.
Given that a lot of the US officers shot dead were killed by their own weapons and that fully arming a police force only ups the ante for the criminals I think we'll stick with what we have.

bring new meaning to the phrase "This is a stick up!"
Because at least then I have a free hand to hold the steering wheel whilst I'm smoking a cigarette/eating some food/applying my makeup.
FR!
It is still an intrusion in legal sense. Whoever wrote such a worm would face charges if caught.
this much is true, but at least all the DIY lawyers on slashdot will be there to represent them ;)
if the people writing exploits for these security holes wrote a worm that once it had got onto a computer patched the exploit and then detached?
You could call it Good Samaritan Computing or something ;)
A leech on the rest of society? Wow isn't that going a bit far?
How about someone who doesn't block adverts but just never clicks on them?
That's what I do. Unless they're on my own site of course ;)
.. who read that as "modchip AIDS patients"?
I think most people realise that as soon as the games are over any lifted restrictions will go straight back on.
However, I was was in China for 3 months from January to April and found http://www.freeproxyserver.ca/ to work fine with all websites I tried it on.
I'll be going back for another 4 months in October so I hope it's still working.
Cheers,
Alex
How is any accelerometer game ever going to beat this one? http://lightsaber.en.softonic.com/symbian

*cough*
still not seeing anything to back up what you're saying. If it's so riddled with errors it should just take a few moments to copy and paste a few.
yeah, hence the use of the word "should". It's still better than no checks at all.
when did that happen? beacuse these days they should ask you for quite a lot of proof before they'll make you a plate.
where "fought for their freedom" means killed innocent people, robbed banks, smuggled drugs and arms.
yeah, real heros.
This sounds like the front page of every News Of The World for the last two decades.

yeah, I hear that a lot too. I'd kinda like to leave on good terms but if it comes down to it I might grow the balls to walk ;)
it's almost day light, shouldn't you be heading back to your bridge? ;)
