Ah, but DVD are differet than TV- You CAN watch a DVD when you want to, but if you want to watch Friends, you have to either (1) Program the VCR / PVP to record it for you, (2) watch it live, (3) get a copy from a friend / co-worker who did record it, or (4) wait for the DVD collection.
Well the thing is that they don't want you to tape the show. they either want you to watch it when it airs, or by demand from one of their servers (wnna bet that it will include commericals too?)
And that's the point, if you don't see the commericals, the advertisers don't see value in paying money to the broadcasters, then why should they broadcast anything?
Now, when you copy the tape, do you include the commericals as well?
They have no idea how many people are going to become pissed off just because the media companies want to protect their income streams. When your parents / grandparents / non-technically savive friends & family can do something as simple as record a TV program because of 'broadcast flags' and the like then Congress will hear from the masses in the most unpleasent way possible.
If the admin wants everyone to speak the same language then the server should not be up for the world to use and see.
If you think that they're going to cheat by talking in their native language )give out key info / advantage), then of course there are easier ways than by global comms which everyone can see.
Games are supose to be fun. Part of that fun is playing with people from around the world.
I play a few online games and on one server the admin was yelling / kicking those who did not communicate in English.
It's silly. The internet is global - the first W in WWW stands for World, and the last time I checked English was not the offical language of this planet.
Those who are complaining should either mellow out or learn Portuguese.
It's Japan. So, if you've never been there, and had no idea that there really isn't any logical progression of building / house numbers, trust me in that street signs can only take you so far.
Having buildings & landmarks show up on the screen certainly would help people find their way around (eps. police, fire).
Last example was the web site that I built for my sister's opera singer (my sister is a manager). I built a complete publishing system in PHP / MySQL that supported downloads, uploads, media clips, fan club, automatic emailing based on calendar events and geographical location (and user's permission), etc. etc. etc.
I would have to agree with the AC below (or above me), but for different reasons. If a doctor or some other professional needs to use the phone for matters of life or death, then I think I can be inconvenience for a bit while they take their call.
How abuot this- our adware program isn't running on your PC, you can't view our content.
Of course no one will want to visit the site with that requirement to begin with, but somehow I think that will be the requirement to get the 'content'.
Yes, but if the FBI or a lawyer shows up with a subpoena, how hard will go-daddy fight to crush it? My guess is not very hard.
On a side note, if this is designed to tie in with the can-spam act, then why haven't people started to sue the owners of web sites linked in spam? Or those who contact you back after submitting 'tracking data'?
Sometimes it's nice to get out of the house and do things, like take a walk, read at a cafe, socialize with people, enjoy a nice spring day, go skiing, vacation, and to live life!
TIBCO is a program that we use here at work. The IDE is in Java (as is the whole application) and programming it is mainly find a process, click on it and drag it to your project, and drop. The you have to connect it to the other processes that you are using.
The hardest part of this is making sure that you have the right connections / parmeters assigned, and even then, it's fairly simple.
Does this make for good programming? I'm still out on this, but it has made it accessible to non-programmers.
The last point is the issue- the non-programmer. While they understand how it works, the why is usually left unanswered, so their designs tend to lack scallability / robustness that a programmer would have already taken into account for. You just can't make a visual programming language well enough to cover all cases that it will be used for. You end up with bloat.
First and formost, I hope that the sex talk hasn't put you off too badly (or at all). I'm in a serious relationship and I've been pondering what to get for my GF this holiday, and the best that I can thinking of is roses. Go figure. That said, for her birthday, I bought theater tickets, for Christmas, I got her clothes (picture me in Talbots holding up one of her sweaters telling the store clerk that she's this size...) along with some CDs and other things. So maybe the best thing to get him is something that you both can enjoy, like tickets to live music show, a nice dinner, theater, etc.

I disagree.

I personally have no hope for the show after viewing the web site.
Why oh why does every great SF show spawn really, really sucky sequels?
Yet, some of us would say that is a *good thing*.
For $3K, I certainly will do everything in my power to make sure that I or the other party will be ripped off.
If that means that they have to wait 3 days for a Cd to show up, so be it.
Just sing the spam song for the entire time.
Let's see them try to get around that one for broadcast.

Then I was told 'Thanks, but we want flash'.
Lesson learned- more sizzle and less stake.
Eat less and exersice more.
Walk for 30 minutes each day. If that means that you play less Quake / video games, so what?
And that has nothing to do with the fact they AMD hired most of the Alpha design team when DEC stopped do their chip development?
Okay, ./ is f*cking up my postings now, and yes I did use the preview button...
New York State will not benefit from the interest or anything else. The money will sit in an escrow account until claimed.
Only if it hasn't been claimed after a number of years, then they follow these rules.

Some of the best game play and challenges that I had as a youth.
Those where the days.

While the world is wired, there still is a world out there to explore and see and experience.

I think Intel and AMD love this idea though...
I simple tell the person at the checkout that my wallet was recently stolen / misplaced / lost my card, and they usually scan theirs in for me.
I get the discount, the store gets bogus data. Win-win.
GE for one.

What sick twisted mind came up with this?
Just watch the video...
