You`d be suprised at the number of cases in the U.K. that get thrown/laughed out of court when the only `evidence` is a policemans word. It just doesnt carry any credibility any more, or at least, much less than it used to.
Its interesting that people imagine aliens taking the form of the current level of technology (or the current level of sci-fi). It was angels before flying saucers and shit, and before then it was flying animals (reindeer, as in father christmas stories).
It would be interesting to see what form aliens are supposed to take in the future!
Hoping that someone here can answer me a little question.
All the DVD players i`ve seen (not many, i`ll admit) seem to have the same problem that pc games that stream video from cd have - that horrible flickering and pausing whenever a large amount of the picture changes from one frame to the next. Its fine when people are sitting around talking, then someone stands up and you lose a frame.
Has this been sorted out on recent players? I imagine its just a processing power thing, or maybe a badly-encoded disk thing, but i still see it.
Its computers i dont like. Everyone has one now, even my mum. Why? What does she need one for?
And televisions! My, they`re selling like hot cakes, arent they? Rot your brain they will, whats wrong with radio?
I saw a program once, had some guy on it whos counting to a million on a little calculator-with-a-printer-on-it. He was going 1, return,2, return,3 etc..
He had a basement full of printouts lab, labelled like 1 - 1000, 1001 - 2000... the whole room was full of these boxes.
Now THATS sad.
And in the u.k. we have `trainspotters` - people who`s idea of fun is to wear really geeky clothes and stand at the end of platforms at train stations, making notes about which trains turn up, and when. Amazing.
I use MSIE5.5 (its a work thing!) but i think it suffers from memory leaks. I could never shut down windows 98 after i`d run it, it would always hang on the `windows is shutting down` screen.
Also, strange things happen from time to time. At the moment its refusing to allow me to right-click on a link and `open in a new window` - nothing happens; i have to arse about with control-n for a new browser, then right click on a link, properties, cut and paste the adr into the new window. Sad.
Maybe i should try netscape again, but i`ve had problems with that in the past. Is browsing html pages really that hard a problem? Or am i unlucky?
Yeah, it seems that a lot of time has been spent wondering who shot Kennedy, and it seems that a more important question has been neglected: why didnt they kill Nixon, Reagan or Bush?
...have an isp set up an email system so it only accepts valid PGP encrypted emails. Spammers would then need not only an email address, but a valid key for each person, plus cpu time to encrypt the message for each person.
Or does someone already offer this service. Strictly PGP encrypted ONLY.
if you have 3 times the resolution spare, i guess you could use 3 (vertical, perhaps) pixels instead of one, and just use each pixel for just r,g or b.
my homepage has a link to microsoft, and the link is entitled `the great satan`, i didnt think of it, maybe its more popular that i thought! cant see people getting fired for it though; who cares?
Libertarian Party's Harry Browne:
"the very first thing I will do as President, from the Inauguration stand, is sign an unconditional pardon for all non-violent drug offenders currently serving their sentence in federal prison."
David McReynolds of the Socialist Party USA :
"Marijuana, the most widely used illegal drug, is not addictive, no one has died from an overdose, it is less harmful than alcohol or tobacco, and it should be legalized. "
Dunno if they`re idiots though, i`m from the u.k. and havent heard of these guys before.

Think it was `breakfast of champions` by kurt vonnegut who came up with the idea of a `semi-intelligent gas from Pluto` :)
"Is it stinky?" - Ren
"Just how you like it!" - Stimpy.

"But what's all the hype because people have been using radios and headsets for over twenty years, so where's the "antenna" effect there? "
Last time i checked a radio was a receiver, not a microwave transmitter.

Or could we get to a certain number of digits and thats it?
With all due respect to Bill Hicks.
