People complain about identity theft, people complain about efforts to verify ID.

  2. Re:Ok then, use your newfound service and directio on Groklaw Declares Victory, No More Articles · · Score: 1

Maybe PJ would like to have a life after putting up with all this crap. If you want a site like what you're suggesting, why don't you make one?

  3. Re:Right on Woz! on Wozniak: I Would Consider Returning To Apple · · Score: 1

Please don't pretend that every other electronics/computer manufacturer doesn't do exactly the same thing. It doesn't justify Apple's actions, but until I see you ranting about Dell or HP, I'll consider you a hypocrite.

"a person who is supported by or seeks support from another without making an adequate return"
Please tell me how the use of that term was incorrect.

  5. I own one on The 30th Anniversary of Osborne Computer · · Score: 4, Interesting

Well, to be precise, I own the 2nd model - the "Osborne Executive" with the slightly larger, amber monitor.
The old girl still fires up, I found the system software years before I came across the computer itself. Totally impractical and useless but I still enjoy firing up Zork on it to impress my fellow geeks.

  6. Better mousetrap on Steve Jobs Questioned In iTunes Monopoly Suit · · Score: 1

There are plenty of online music stores with competitive pricing. Only in the fevered imagination of Apple-bashers is this a monopoly.

  7. Re:Who will all just plug their ears on Sludge In Flask Gives Clues To Origin of Life · · Score: 2, Insightful

"I love it when people think they know more than God."

That's easy to do. I also know more than Zeus, Odin and Ra.

Hanging for bribery? A little harsh don't you think?

  9. Feeling a tad smug on Oracle Could Reap $1 Million For Sun.com Domain · · Score: 1

I remember working in the IT department of a fair-sized company back in '99 and it was a dedicated Sun shop, in fact my boss denigrated Linux and open-source software (of course he called it freeware) any chance he could. He talked like Sun would be around forever...oops.

  10. Re:What a joke. on Microsoft Reportedly Ends Zune Hardware Development · · Score: 1, Informative

Why? Seems to be pretty much spot on. MS has been playing catchup for years. Only their obscene warchest (and Office lock-in) has kept them going.

  11. Re:iPhone 3G Owners Screwed? on Apple vs. Microsoft: a Tale of Two Mobile Updates · · Score: 1

If it's still under warranty, Apple will either fix it or replace it. Why do you assume they won't?

It's insane. It's gotten to the point that I barely have to look for new bands, they find me. I've found some amazing unsigned musicians who are getting their stuff out there completely on their own.

  18. Re:Franken may be a little crazy, but not on this on Senators Bash ISP and Push Extensive Net Neutrality · · Score: 1

    http://www.bvblackspin.com/2011/01/26/michele-bachmann-tea-party-congresswoman-thinks-founding-father/

"You would presume that with all of their citations of the Constitution and remembrance of the founding fathers, Tea Party candidates would understand history at least a little bit. But that's apparently not the case with Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) who said that the founding fathers ended slavery in the United States.

In a recent speech in Iowa, Bachmann said that it was "the very founders that wrote those documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States....Men like John Quincy Adams, who would not rest until slavery was extinguished in the country."

This is just a recent sample of her stupidity.

Why do you think that he's condemning the movie? Seems to me that Mr. Transparency wouldn't have a problem with a movie being made about him, even if he wasn't getting any $$$ from it.

Ok the person I was responding to said that "people shouldn't have kids they can't afford" and I was stating that religion and lack of education were prime reasons for that happening. I never said that
"the government" should determine how many kids someone could churn out. Don't put words in my mouth.

Also, a program that isn't effective in getting people to adhere to it is less than useless, so no, I'm not going to "compromise" with you.

  25. Re:Need a bigger knife on Jerry Brown Confiscates 48,000 Cell Phones · · Score: 1

Sigh...I'm hoping you deliberately misunderstood my post. If not, let me make it crystal clear. Religion is responsible for people having too many kids, and as far as abstinence programs go, why don't you have a good look at the statistics and tell me how they're working out in practice.

    You bible-pushers are a pain.
