I say go with Ubuntu 9.10, it has been very good and stable for me (the best release yet 9.04 was the worst for me). You can set it up the way you want it with only one bar at the bottom, and have the trash icon and stuff like the way you want. Here is one of my setup (http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/695/notebookjuly09.png).
Linux has been steadily been taking over my University since 1998. I work on campus now, and a lot of my fellow classmates have graduated and have gotten jobs on campus like myself and we started to slowly change stuff to Linux. Of course if you are in the CS department it's an unspoken rule that Linux is required for your to know and run on your computer either on raw metal or in virtulization.
It's kinda funny, but it also shows the ignorance of some people who used to (and maybe still do) think there is only one web browser out there and it's IE. Good thing times are changing!
Looking forward to what it is going to be. But it seems like from what I read in ComputerWrold, ArsTechnica, and OSNews it seems like it will be online all the time, what if I am traveling and I am on the plane or in the middle of nowhere, then what? Am I going to be able to work as if there isn't a problem and then I can sync up when I do connect up to wifi? Those are some questions I have but I am more than sure it will be answered before it comes out.
I am still holding out on buying a netbook just because of these. ARM netbook seems to make a lot more sense to me, especially with the price point, battery life, and no Windows options!:)
Isn't it against Islam to have pornography?
So this means we say goodbye to the Linux and OS X version.
I wonder if they has anything to do with the Samsung and Apply suing each other
That didn't take long at all!
GameTrailers isn't a fan of the game either
With this new 64bit flash plugin hulu works via the browser no more need for the hulu desktop app.
Excellent point.
"Just ask RedHat!"

Not really a big deal for me as you can easily change it. I say if it helps fund Ubuntu then it's a minor change.
Sane people don't use IE 6 anymore, that browser needs to die!
Looking for to Tuesday as to see how this one will be and how much will it cost w/o contract.
One of my favorite systems of all time!

Even though it was done, I was able to send and receive email via Thunderbird with IMAP.
Yeah I think it's prized well also, and will be picking on up in Sept.
Good as I use OpenOffice, and there isn't anything that is any good other than OpenOffice on Linux side that I know of for starving students.

Who says Opensoruce doesn't make money!?!
I can't believe IE 6 is still being used after all these years.

...use Firefox or Opera!
Maybe someone should let these guys know it's been done already, years ago.

Huge news, it blew me off my chair when I read it this morning! I am glad that Daily Motion is doing something like this, more kudos to them!
