What exactly Quo think they will be doing different from others? Apple will definitely go after them with all their guns loaded, and how exactly does Quo think they will win? Their thinking doesn't make any sense. Now I am all for using computers with OS X, but they way I see it, I don't want to pay the extra money that Apple charges for their machine but that doesn't mean I am going to break the EULA. Era of me pirating software is over (it was over about 5 to 6 years ago and I have Ubuntu and the Linux community for stepping up the game to thank for that) I am perfectly happy using Ubuntu on all my machines.
The only thing that stopped me from getting the GP2X and now the GP2X Wiz is that it doesn't have wireless on it. It would have been perfect to have something like that on it with a web browser. Oh well, that's one of the reason I upgraded from a DS Lite to the DSi for the web browsing capability.
I have Haiku running in VirtualBox for some time now, and I am glad to hear they will be at Scale as this time around I am planning on going. Looking forward to their demo there, and I want to help them out by buying a T-Shirt.
Been using the Beta since Saturday and I must say it is really nice. This is first Windows system I have been excited about ever. It's very responsive, and light weither doesn't have all the crapware as previous version *cough* Vista *cough*
So far I am thinking I will be happily replacing my Windows XP Pro SP3.
I for one am really exited about it, and expected Google to get into the OS market. It's something different even though it's linux it doesn't run GNOME, KDE, or Xfce so it's different in that sense. Now add an app store with free, and non free apps...I am in heaven. Of course this would be ideal for netbooks but I don't see it much on notebooks and desktops.
I have been using Boxee on my Asus EeeBox running Xubuntu 8.10 for the past couple of weeks and I have to say it one awesome media center app. It's getting better and better as newer releases come out. Love that application.
Well at my college we are all Linux, they start you off with C++, but IMO I think they should start off with Python to ease in the freshmen. I would suggest Django/Python for web programming (I am in the process of learning), also PHP (which I love and currently do all my side projects in) as for non web programming I would go with C/C++, and dare I say Java.
For a good IDE I really like Geany, it works well with a Linux system, and it's light weight. It looks for installed compilers so you don't have install anything on top it as long as you have all the stuff you needs like GCC, OpenJDK, etc.
Cool, I am looking forward to this release. Going to be testing it out on my HP dv5000z laptop and if it works well then I will be replacing my Ubuntu 8.10...eh...maybe dual boot, too much of a Ubuntu fanboy!:)
I love what Songbird has become, there are some things that it still lacks like being able to minimize to a try on my Ubuntu system, or giving out what song it is playing with a bubble window, but other than that it is awesome! Finally after years Songbird is ready to fly!
P.S. Sorry for the corny title!
(And though there are lot of ways to benchmark computers, Ubuntu 8.10 with Compiz Fusion is certainly prettier on my Eee than the Windows XP that it came with.)
Haha, well my EeeBox's Xubuntu 8.10 with Compiz-Fusion is prettier than Windows XP that it came with!
Just when I though it wouldn't get better it did! Ibex started out shaky and I was planning on skipping it and sticking with Hardy but really made the difference for me was the Beta, and I really like what Canonical did with this release, good job guys!
Exactly what I had been holding out for...I am really glad. $999 isn't US dollars it is going to be price below $600. Going to wait for the one that is going to be coming with Ubuntu.:)

Handbrake they have .deb file on their site and it works like a charm.
Wow and we all though it was Mosaic!
Supports Quicktime out of the box, so you won't need the carppy Quicktime player anymore.

Yep and they work great in Boxee (which is running on Ubuntu 8.04 by the way)!
Brig it on!

Love the mockup, hopefully it would transitions into something like that in 9.04
64bit computing is coming here slowly. I jumped on 64bit computing as soon as Adobe released Flash 10 and I am loving it.

You can find Python book online, and Django book as well.

This is huge news, looks like the trend is moving away from Windows.
I just can't believe it!
This is rather interesting news, going to have to try it out and watch few Bond movies when they are posted.
I would much rather see OpenOffice 3.0 put into the Google Pack.

It's about time but I already returned mine more than 7 months ago and I am proud owner to Turtle Beach Riviera which works well in Ubuntu!

I used it the other day and with TraceMonkey turned on, it's smoking fast. Love it!
