I'm using Mosix for a Blender render farm.
Works very well. The restrictions on mmap
call though can be a problem, as it prevents
process migration from the home node.
heh when i left in '85 i thought it was brain dead. dec just keeps getting worse and worse. my favorite anagram for DIGITAL was GITLAID, someone had changed the letters around on an LA36 on the manufacturing floor like this. I think that was the last innovative thing they did.
ya the VMS thing is a common textbox story. But what used to be real fun in VMS, was to malloc a ton of memory and write it to a file. You could catch peoples email, and files. Since the system didn't zero the pages at that time.
Quite the opposite, it generally takes a year for mine to get looked at, then 90% are returned with office actions. Which typically are patents with the same relevant keywords, and no similarity. Each patent has to be reviewed by the applicant and countered. The patent is then resubmitted for further review. If there is a rush to process patents, it's in favor of rejection. Do a couple, you'll see... heh!
Actually, if anything, it's linux that will kill them. I doubt they'll make any money off this new age PC market. But then again, who needs SGI? Linux only brings another segment of the "daddy can I have a new computer" market to power. They'll never buy SGI's anyway. -------------------------------------- slashdot: you still have the wrong logo.

uh, sorry, it's easy. It's also easy with linux, assuming you have two NICS that _can_ play together - determining this is the hard part. It's also ridiculously easy with IRIX too, I have one machine with two ethernets, and one FDDI, it was PAINFULLY EASY to do.

bad karma - and proud of it.

Why wouldn't a dualboot system present a security
risk? A program run under a DOS/Windows partition
can easily scribble on a linux partition.
Does it? I get all my patents approved.
And I'm rewarded handsomely! I proudly fuel
the corporate machine.... get a job, you'll love it.

Electronic design is done mostly on Suns here.
There are no production tools for linux, for
chip or board design.
So who cares......
The first 'clear case' I saw was VAX 11/750
in 1980-ish at DEC. Mildly more impressive
I think.
Why all this obession with appearances?
It's just a PC! face it, it's beige through
and through....
yet another "been there, done that" for linux.
do something new for a change.
Finally a breath of freshair!
HOORAY!

Whatever happened to the dewey decimal system?
now, more that ever, the new logo applies.
In the words of the immortal Buzz Lightyear:
"You poor, sad little man".

No... they haven't perfected ignorance like you have. Maybe you should patent it, err GPL it..
whatever.
>Blender/GIMP offer the 3d tools for the GNU generation.
Blender isn't GNU. And gimp isn't 3d.
>SGI may have invented OpenGL, but Linux perfected it!
The only thing linux has perfected is idiotic
statments like yours.

Jeopardy is trivia, so linux is trivial.
heh, knew it all along.

You're obviously ignorant of the fact that SGI
graphics performace with blender buries
Linux PC's. Even Windows does!
I run 'em all.... and linux finishes last in
all but rendering... of course _any_ machine
can do that.
More linux hype for the next millenium
You obviously know what you're talking about!
This is the kind of thinking that's going to
really make linux popular!
Keep up the good work!
PC's barely caught up to my 8 year my RealityEngine, and that's only under windows,
teehee!
