You are correct that at one point you had to use tables but a lot of people had ie and netscape versions of their site or low res / high res versions and frames galore. A lot of mistakes were made. It's best we forget about them.;)
Yeah if you want to be a complete tool and hints of yahoo's name in all your id and classes.
CSS isn't so hard that I'm going to use a framework. I've written enough CSS that I can go back and reuse what I've already made. Most IE hacks are in separate files and can be reused quite quickly. That alone solves a lot of the problems.
Tables aren't meant for layout. They're meant for tabular data which they are still superior for as they are old and there for work perfectly for any browser and in this day and age you shouldn't have to be writing out tables. You should have code that spits out data from a source in a table for you and then you just have to worry about writing a little CSS to style it.
Yeah why should he have the option of using his last name in his email address like everyone else? The guy is obviously a selfish, uncaring and doesn't care that his surname is now going to scar the life of many young children whose minds were pure before bumping into his email address online.
What can I say, if and when I need it I'll definitely use it. No matter the side effects it is still a good invention. Hell, even if it caused cancer it'd still worth it more than smoking.
I just don't think it's my time yet...my company has quite sucked all the joy out of me. It'll take them at least a few more years.;)
Nations aren't a problem. In a way yes it divides people but having one nation will still result in divides. There have always been divides. That is who humans and most animals work. You have your group and they have their group. That won't change ever.
Your experience could be the norm but there might be 10% that have those other side effects and maybe those effect show up more if you're young and can already pound nails with it.
I just think it's short-sighted for younger people, especially in their 20's, to use it when they could potentially risk screwing things up later in life.
Normal guys may want to do that but it's not wise since some long-term effects are showing up. Studies are claiming that it does everything from kill off your sex drive completely to just making you completely dependant on it and some claim it may cause penis shrinkage.
So yeah, I'll definitely pass on taking it until I absolutely have to.
And it's perfect if you enjoy a os that forgets it's screen calibrations, does display certain jpegs properly as a wallpaper and needs rebooting if you lose your signal for too long.
I had version 5 on an HTC phone and I'm glad I've ditched it now. I just wish the iphone had some buttons for gaming but you can't have everything. So I've gone back to having a Sony Ericsson phone. It has a decent camera and makes calls. I'm not sure I need much more at the moment though the Nokia N95 is tempting.
True but as someone who lives in the UK and has a partner with sat nav, we've never had a problem. Mind you we don't live in London or some place similar and to be fair you can get shot or stabbed for no reason in those areas so the least of my concerns would be the sat nav.
That's just as much BS as their old excuse for shipping things to Europe despite being closer to China where all the electronics are actually made and Microsoft makes their EU discs in Ireland so the cost is minimal for shipping.
As far as translation...for starters they never actually give you software that uses British English so we see no benefit in it and do you think they get "file", "save", "copy, etc translated for each version? A previous employer of mine only paid approx. £110,000 to get a whole book translated into about 26 languages. It was a small company so they certainly didn't get a good rate. Now if Microsoft or Adobe somehow pays double that, that means they only have to add £1 per disc if they sell 220,000 copies which they will. There is no excuse for something that should cost us £150 to cost £300 (or more).
The only reason they do it is to boost their profits because European currencies are worth more than the dollar. So they abuse their positions to sell over priced software to help their bottom lines. That's the only reason.
This is also yet another reason why I use products like Open Office and Gimp. Honest companies, like JCreator, will get my money too seeing how they don't try to rip me off for not living in the US.
What about the cereal?

If you layout a site with tables you've missed the point of tables completely.

Yes but a human writes the java app and the other app so each are just as likely to have problems in the future.
Usability doesn't mean giving any idiot the easy to trash their own computer without having to think.
The the pope just might have to shit in the woods.
i.e. no need to trust their java applications)
You still have to trust a bit of software which isn't a problem. The problem always arises when another human is involved.
I don't care how large the display is 50 pointers on one display sounds like a poorly thought out solution for someone with no money.
Most of the US is employed by Verizon. Everyone knows that.

Yeah the 2nd gen xbox has profits built in. All 360s die after a short period which makes you buy another. Pure genius!
And it probably will be killed off as there is no way to make loads of money off of it.
Well yeah not everyone is going to get attacked but let's face it something is more likely to happen to you in London than say Ely.

That's why you remove it and hide it or take it with you.
Of course finlands probably the only country in the world where all the mcdonalds employees speak english
So what do they speak in the US, UK and Australia?
US - Spanish
UK - Polish
Australia - Australian

It's eco-friendly because it's nice an light so a hermit crab will be able to use it as a home when it becomes out dated and chucked in the ocean.
