One is claiming they've bought nothing (the promo cd) where as the other is saying you bought something (the licence - not the software). Apple is saying you get exactly what you bought where with the DJ they're saying they gave him something but it's not his.
They do that just any other software with a EULA. You don't own a copy of windows. You licence to MS' terms. MS' terms are slightly different because they don't make hardware but like wise I'm certain not just anyone can modify windows and then sell it onto people. You have ot become an OEM.
A lot of products impose limits and void warranties by modifying the product. It's a lot easier for Apple to stop Psystar than to tell thousands of people to get bent when they ask for support and they're modifying the software to get it to run which if you take, for instance a console mod it and then sell it you'll catch hell from the hardware manufacturer's lawyers. I'm sure you'd catch hell from lawyers by making your own car and placing a chevy engine in it and selling it as a chevy too.
Except the cost of an OSX disc almost certainly doesn't cover the cost of development. It covers the cost of a replacement disc basically. The whole package that Apple offers is what funds their business so killing that off would in turn kill of Psystar and having a truly free market still doesn't given Psystar the right to use and make money from Apple's trademarks.
OS X is much cheaper than windows mainly because it's not meant to be used on other hardware. The whole package is paying for the hardware and the software. So I don't blame Apple for getting annoyed about it.They've chosen business model different to MS that doesn't make it wrong and you can still install os x on any PC but someone can't run a business based on that. Given how many people torrent software and ignore copyrights I'm sure this will stop no one from doing it on their own.
Java is nice and fun to work with. I thoroughly enjoyed learning it but then I got a job in a big company doing Java and it was boring. That isn't Java's fault but the problem is most Java work is going to be in big boring companies.
I also think it's painful to do web development with Java. It's improving but there are too many frameworks that all work the same way (ie with too much damn XML) and it sort of forces you to need a full blown IDE in order not to waste your time with it. I shouldn't need a full blown IDE to do something more than a couple of basic servlets.
It's pretty much dead in Microsoft's eyes. Maybe they'll get it right when they have to redo it in a few years because silverlight doesn't exist anywhere.
I think he's right. Take a big diverse site like Reddit and try searching for Mac users taking digs at Windows and Windows users taking a dig at Mac users. I think you'll find the windows users are far more insecure. To help balance it out I'm going to explain why they do this.
Windows fanboys get upset over all the time waiting for their shit ugly machine to boot up or the time spent cleaning up after all the security problems so they feel the need to take their hate out on Apple or even Linux users. Also Window users are more likely to know nothing about their computer and find it scary and they don't want the world to change so they have to spread hate about Apple or Linux so minimise the odds of them having to learn another OS.
Marketing gets people in and good money spend on hardware and and software designers keeps people in. The PC world's race to the bottom isn't self sustaining and that's why Apple will probably out live every PC manufacturer out there. HP is done for. Dell will probably be next.
I'd rather pay more for something that will last more than 1 or 2 years than pay $300 every 1 or 2 years. That's why some people are poor they only look at the number they're paying at that very second and don't realise they're paying much more they they should be in the end.
The recession is not new and they've only been going up and that is because they are selling premium products and don't rely on lowly Wal-mart scrubs to get by. Do the world a a favour and stick your shitty financial advice up your well used ass.
Most iOS apps are objective C, most Android apps are Java and there are only like 2 Windows mobile phone apps none of which are Flash based, penis breath.
So awesome. You pay out the ass to have the phone and use it including receiving calls and now they're going to make you pay to receive advertisements. I'm glad the US hasn't over regulated their mobile phones like Europe because then they could have such awesomeness that the poor Europeans can't have.
I think it more likely shows which people leave everything open all the time and who only keeps open what they need. Firefox has always been pretty good for me even on my old Asus EEE but it was my commuting laptop so I didn't have dozens of things open for on it for the whole day.
Unless of course you take a CS course while doing help desk work. There is not path from factory worker at Chevy to designing the next car for them but both jobs are in the automotive industry.
Software development is part of IT just as System Administration is part of IT and development can be part of support. So the idea that software development is separate from some vague classification called IT support/administration is silly. It reeks of either ignorance or elitism from some developer who doesn't want to be stereotyped as an IT nerd while at the same time belittling those who do things like server administration.
IT stands for Information technology. Development deals with both those things every single day. That is why it is a part of IT.
They do that either because it will make it easier to ship the development jobs overseas or for tax reasons (ie development is R&D) but programming is part of IT.
lol. Maybe in fairy land.
Somehow Apple must to be blame. Android is open source goodness and with so many eyes looking over the code it couldn't have flaws.

I hope you're right but no offence, I'd be more likely to believe you've drank the kool-aid you shouldn't have drank.
It's pretty much dead in Microsoft's eyes. Maybe they'll get it right when they have to redo it in a few years because silverlight doesn't exist anywhere.
You're right it does suck at the very least as a way to create cross platform software.

You're a mongoloid.

What sort of shitty site breaks on Firefox 6 yet works on Firefox 5?

The only reason to get this would be is if it has a easier to read e-ink screen otherwise it's a low grade half assed ipad.
I'm sure the two people using it are excited.

I think it's the definition used by someone who doesn't want to be classed as an 'IT nerd'.
