I just used my trig knowledge on Thursday to help someone write up a quick VB app to figure the surface area of a lamp shade (cone with the top lopt off).
If this is truly the case then my next iPod (which is YEARS down the road) will be a nano (or whatever they have like it then). But for now...why spend $199 when my $99 (already paid for) player works 100% as I desire...
"And to the parent post... What happens when it picks stuff you don't like and you spend your entire time hitting NEXT? Is that just hitting play? Not picking, I just know that I got annoyed."
I might be in the minority here, but I seriously only have music I like. I think my whole collection is like 3.2GB right now. I have one playlist in iTunes with everything but seasonal music (none of my wife's Christmas stuff) and I simply let it add music to my shuffle. As for hitting Next when it doesn't find music for me...well...like I said, I only have music that I actually like. I am wierd...I don't like picking my music. I really just want music playing. I have friends with car mp3 players...and they just don't make sense to me. I prefer my Sirius where I turn on a station and the music plays...that is all.
How does the Nano kill the shuffle? I am a happy Shuffle owner that honestly wouldn't consider switching at all. I listen to music while riding my bike and running with my dog. I don't want to pull my iPod out of my pocket to switch anything. I want to plug it into my computer, hit a button that fills it with whatever music it feels like and hit play. That is it. I don't want to pick my music. I don't want to organize some playlists. I want to hit play.
I've read this comment - and its utterly dreadful. I wouldn't waste yoru time on it. The above comment is completely over-rated. The comments lacks depth and staying power.
That the posted exploit only causes Firefox to crash to stop responded (that is what it did to 1.5b1 on my Linux box). The person that found the exploit claims he has tweaked the code to actually run arbitrary code on the system, but I would like to se e proof of this since as of right now we only have a hanging browser.
While here in Plainville we aren't experience that problem (yet?) Hays, KS is. The old downtown (The Chestnut Street District) is a really cool place, but the bigger, new stores like Walmart and Home Depot are on the North side of town (where old downtown is on the south). The company I work for works very closely with the Chestnut Street District to bring about new business there, but it can be a real challenge. We want downtown to stay in Hays and here in Plainville.
We actually just opened a new diner/micro-brewery in Hays. Check it out here.
I live in a great town of just over 2000 people. It is very different from when I lived in the Kansas City area, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I work as a software engineer for a small/medium size company that has a great work environment. I just bought a 1603 sq ft house four months ago for $45k. So lets see... 1) work in the IT world (check) 2) have a great house for little money (check) 3) have 3MB DSL to my house (check) 4) 3 minute commute to work...on my bike (check)
Yup...I love it here. Outsource to these regions would be a very nice alternative.

Solemn about death? Maybe if the dead person wasn't a Christian. If they were we should be happy for them! They are in heaven now and eventually you will be to.
This would force the current inhabitants of Crawford to be forced from their native home though. They might end up invading other parts of our country...like DC.
In other related news, Linux Kernel 2.2 is unaffected and is 6+ years old. What was your point again? Even if it is 6 years old, people use it...a lot of people in fact. It needs to be watched and maintained by its creators just as much as Windows XP.
"No one was even close to the ease of use that Windows offered. Sure, Mac OS was a lot prettier but then it cost the moon and the stars along with both your arms and legs"
Since when is price an issue in usability? So since Windows is cheaper it is magically allowed to be harder to use but still be declared easier?
Logic like this makes it easier to hate Microsoft...when even their apologists don't make sense it is EASY!;)

So..never use trig? Hurm...
Hope this helps

(Do you care to give us a reason maybe?)
[horrific pic warning]
Really? This is who we have evangalizing for us? I quit...

I wonder how this will affect Gamespy since they are owned by IGN. Gamespy is currently building the WiFi software for the Nintendo DS...
Are you claiming the shuffle was an ill advised purchase? I personally love my $99 iPod shuffle. Great for bike riding and running with the dog.
Why do you always assume people will post that? Some of us have oth...##KR2F@F@$F$ {NO CARRIER}
Eternal Darkness was developed by Silicon Knights for Nintendo as a second party. So Nintendo owns all the rights to that game.

It means just that. You have to give Google your mobile phone number and then SMS you your invite code is sent to your phone.
So...see..."sign-up occurs via mobile phone".

But that is just my two cents.

Fear not! This is /. and this article will be duped no less than three times giving you ample oppurtunity to post a battery tater joke!

Well, unless you use 2.6....
/dev/hda
--------------
# elvtune
ioctl get: Invalid argument
elvtune is only useful on older kernels;
for 2.6 use IO scheduler sysfs tunables instead..
--------------
You can find out more by tuning into "/sys/block/hda/queue" (where hda is the device you want to tune).
Enjoy.
How did you you learn these things?
