The diff I see is if you are hacking thier cards then you are doing something wrong.. it is not yours to change. if you hack a 3rd party card that you own or build your own... more power to ya :). Personaly I am impresed with DTVs way of dealing with it and I will be grinning for some time. It has been three years now and no one has noticed the oversight :). Had they insisted that I sign I would have turned down the job. A little something to every one else that has yet to be trapped by one, question it and see if you can 'forget' to sign it. there is a good chance that it will be missed.

I did a full reload incase I had been cracked and reset up, I found out about the hosts.allow and deny so I tried to set it up. unless you already know what you are doing it is rather hard to find out the format the two files need to be in. lets face it alot of clueless people are getting into Linux and I was one of them. we need to put out something that covers the things people here assume every one already knows. I thought I had my system closed through the deny and allow files for a week befor I discovered that I had the wrong format and they were doing nothing. I have corected it now but thanks to this ramen problem I have discovered that I needed to do more {no I haven't been hit.. I atleast know to keep up-to-date}. Why should programs be any different? if you abandon something they you are showing you nolonger have an interest in it and in the case of programs you may be breaking your cotract with the people who did pay for it {not a good way to make paying customers happy}. If the lable said 'it didn't sell like we hoped, lets just forget about the money we gave you' rather then 'We gave you $xxx,xxx... and your sales didn't cover it. we want our money' then perhaps I would beleave that they have to charge more to cover the ones that don't sell well and I would be willing to pay the higher price.
